Frontier 390 Software Simple Upgrade

(Ver. 4.0 and above)

In the "Simple Upgrade", you can upgrade the FRONTIER390 System software (A1) and Variety
Print Software (B1) by following the simple guidance messages.

Before the upgrade, make sure that:

1) The printer power switch is turned to STANDBY.
2) The scanner is turned ON.

Note:
1) Insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive so that its printed surface faces up.
2) To open the tray of the CD-ROM drive, press the eject button.

1. Insert the FRONTIER390 System (A1) Disk into the CD-ROM drive.

2. Perform the post-operational check.

3. Turn ON the scanner's START switch.

• The installer is started.
• The “Simple Upgrade (L-001): Upgrade the Frontier 390 System [A1] software. Click [OK] to start
the upgrade. To cancel the upgrade, click [Cancel]” screen appears.

4. Press [OK].
• The "Procedure Selection 1 (C-001)" screen appears.

5. Select "User version up" and press [Next>].

• The "Starting Upgrade [C-010]" screen appears.

6. Press [Yes].
• Updating process starts.
• Copying starts.

• Upon completion of the upgrade, the "Update Completion [C-080]" screen appears.

7. Press [OK].
• The "Setup Completion [C-090]" screen appears.

8. Press [OK].
• The "[L-003] Simple Upgrade" screen appears.

9. When installing the "Variety Print Software (B1)", press [OK] to proceed to the step 12.
If you will not use the "Variety Print Software (B1)", press [Cancel].
• The "SETUP" screen appears.

10. Remove the system (A1) disk CD from CD-ROM drive.

11. Press [OK].

• The system is restarted.
NOTE: When the message "E-2305 Abnormal printer backup memory" appears at the time of the
start-up, press [OK] to clear it.

12. Replace the FRONTIER390 System (A1) Disk with the Variety Print Service (B1) installer CD.

13. Press [OK].

• "Start Copying Files" screen appears.

14. Press [Next>].
• Copying starts.

• Upon completion of the copy, the "Setup Complete" screen appears.

15. Press [Finish].

• The "SETUP" screen appears.

16. Remove the Variety Print Service (B1) installer CD from CD-ROM drive.

17. Press [OK].

• The system is restarted.

NOTE: When using the Imaging controller, the “Simple upgrade” procedure is as follows:

Insert the DI Print and Data Writing Service Software CD into the drive of the FRONTIER
390, then install the software by selecting “Frontier 390” for the selection of application.
For details refer to subsection 2.2.4.2 “Installation to FRONTIER 390” of the instruction
manual "DI PRINT/DATA WRITING SERVICE SOFTWARE Ver.3.5”, page 25.
