TOPIC: Benefits of cramming

PURPOSE: To inform the mass, especially the students, what is cramming and what are
its benefits.

I. INTRODUCTION

Attention Getter: You don’t want to cram but you are just productive at night?
Then you are worrying if it is just normal. Well, you don’t have to worry. A recent
study found that people with higher IQs tend to be more active nocturnally, going
to bed later, whereas those with lower IQs usually retire to bed sooner after
nightfall.

II. PREVIEW OF THREE MAIN POINTS:

Today, I am going to cite some information about cramming. We are going to


define what is cramming and what are its benefits.

Thesis statement: Using these two points, I will attempt to give you information
about cramming and why do people cram.

III. BODY
a. Point one: What is cramming?
i. Sub-point A: Cramming is the practice of working intensively to
absorb large volumes of informational material in short amounts of
time.
ii. Sub-point B: Cramming is a natural thing that happens to all of us
at some point. We have all experienced it and it can result due to
procrastination, over-committed schedule, low motivation to study
on a regular basis and underachievement

Transition: Now that we know what cramming is, let’s look at what are its
benefits.

b. Point two: What are the benefits of cramming?


i. It’s fresh in your mind.
ii. You’re put under pressure.
iii. It improves your concentration and short-term memory.
iv. It saves so much time.
IV. CONCLUSION:
a. Summary statement: In review, first, we looked at what cramming is and
then we cited its benefits.
b. Statement tying introduction to conclusion: With a large portion of
people, mostly students, love to cram, it is not advisable to cram just
because you just want to. One must be aware of what studying habit is
suitable for him/her. And also, see to it that you consider your mindset.
Some have this kind of mindset where “Determination will get you through
this.” They set their minds that cramming is not that important as long as
you are determined to finish your tasks.
