CHILDREN, YOUTH, & ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

CHILDREN:
Parents, To assist us in serving you and your child’s best interest and safety during the times that you have
entrusted them to our children’s ministry leaders we ask that each week a parent or designated adult register/
sign in your child and pick up him/her at the end of class. There will be a check in sheet at the entry point of
each classroom. Also, Please note the time changes! 2 & 3 years old – 11:00 -11:45 – in Room L10. 4 years old
& Kindergarten – 10:50 – 12:00 in Room L2. Faith Journeys 1st – 5th grade – 10:50 – 12:00 in Room L19.

YOUTH:
11:00-12:00. 6th – 8th grade in Room L23. 9th – 12th grade in Room L22

ADULT:
Coffee and Current Events: Grab a cup of coffee and join facilitator, Bruce Eckert, in the library every Sunday
for an informal discussion of current events and their relationship to our life and faith.

“A Fresh Look at the Old Testament, Where Does the Bible Begin? A Second Look at
Sinai” with Dr. Rev. Wayne Brouwer in Room L6. We all think the Bible begins with Genesis,
but there are reasons to think about Exodus as the first book of the Bible. Come to this class
for an intriguing look at what happened to the Israelites at Mount Sinai, and how this affects the
manner in which we read the Bible yet today. Here is religion at its most political! Dr. Brouwer
is an ordained pastor and a teacher at Hope and WTS.

“Reformed & Missional” in Room L11. This DVD presentation and discussion, features the Rev. Dr. Richard
Mouw. He was keynote speaker at General Synod 2008 addressing the topic of what it means for the RCA to
be reformed and missional, and so what? Dr. Mouw told some fascinating stories and connected them to
theological and practical applications of this topic. This class should be helpful to our discussion here at First
Church as we begin another phase of looking at what is next for us. Facilitators: Larry & Mary Wisner

Coming Up… “Reformed and Missonal” will continue as well as another presentation by Dr. Brouwer,
“Origins and Worldview: How Genesis Answers Four Major Post-Modern Questions We All Ask. “
