Business Skills - H0250538 VP

Student Planning Questionnaire

Name: Course: VP

1. What are your long-term career aspirations and goals?

Once I finish my degree I plan to set up a successful veterinary physiotherapy business,

with a steady client base.

2. What type/s of job would you like to apply for when you graduate next year?

As I am completeing the intergrated masters shall have another year in university before
I am fully qualified, however during the summers I wold like to get a job within the
equine or canine industry in order to increase my experience in either sector.

3. What sectors of employment would you like to investigate further during this
module?

I would like to look at more professionals who are already working in the industry either
as physios or other para-professionals that we will have to work alongside once we are
working. I also think more self-employment and finance lecture would be beneficial.

Tick all that interest you and give specific examples if you can:

 Practical jobs working with animals / horses: I have always enjoyed working
alongside animals. We have always had pets in our home while I was growing up
and loved looking after them. When I was old enough I would help my uncle on
his greyhound yard, exercising the dogs cleaning the kennels and feeding them. I
also started to volunteer at the riding school I went to, I did this for ten years and
loved every minute of looking after the animals.
 Teaching / Coaching / Instructing / Lecturing: I would not personally like to do
any of these things for myself, however I am always looking for new
opportunities to expand my knowledge and so in using resources such as these I
will be able to better myself.
 Therapy / Rehabilitation / Veterinary Related: As my degree is based in this
sector everything within it is very interesting to me. Learning about new types of
therapy and rehab in horses and dogs particularly but also in other animals will
be helpful towards my career after finishing my degree.
 Research / Product Development: Research is a massive part of veterinary
physiotherapy, as it is a relatively new sector to allow it to grow even more
research is vital to improve knowledge about the subject and to educate owners
and professionals alike.

I would really like to shadow any veterinary physiotherapist, who is out working in

7. Are there any other areas that you would like to investigate to help you with your
future career progression during this module?

I think that finding out about other areas of animal health and welfare would be very
good to do. For example doing more work experience with a vet, or learning more about
saddle fitting etc and how these can affect the animals we will be treating.
