2018 City of Ansonia,

Grant Department of
Program Recreation

The City of Ansonia, acting through its
Department of Recreation, is preparing to
offer to issue a limited number of small
monetary grant donations of up to $500
to individuals and organizations that have
an interest in developing, expanding or
franchising recreational programs, events
Announcement or activities that have demonstrable
benefit to the residents of Ansonia. The
applicants must meet all specified criteria
and must demonstrate their capacity and
capability to operate in an efficient and
fiscally responsible manner while
providing quality services and experiences
to our citizens.

• The proposed activity may be a singular
event, a series of events or a recurring
program.
• The proposed activity should encourage and
support the previously defined Purposes

• The activity should be organized and

(as appropriate) and can demonstrate
competence in hosting or facilitating the

• Monetary grants and donations may be
requested in amounts up to $500. The
application must make clear the intended
use of these requested funds.

• The proposed activities will be fully
operated and supervised by the
sponsoring organization/individuals.
The City of Ansonia shall not have any
role in the activity’s operation.
• The sponsoring organization shall

• The sponsoring organization/individuals
shall assume full liability for all its
activities and expenses.

• The activity sponsor shall submit an
application to the Ansonia Recreation
Department for consideration and
assessment.
• The submitted application shall be
reviewed by the Ansonia Recreation
Commission for approval.
Method and • The City of Ansonia may provide a
Procedure permit to utilize city owned spaces,
facilities or other resources to facilitate
the approved activity.
• The City of Ansonia may provide a
monetary grant/donation to help
reduce the cost of the activity.

• Sponsors shall document a proposal and grant
request and submit it to the Ansonia Recreation
Director, Jeffrey Coppola at jcoppola@ansoniact.org.
Questions about the application may be directed to
the same email address.
• The application must specify what assistance is being
requested from the Ansonia Recreation Department,
where, when and how this assistance shall be used
Application and who shall be responsible for the proper use of
city owned facilities and disbursement of city

• The application shall specify how the activity is to be
organized, operated and managed including monies
to be collected from participants and other donors
and their use and disbursement conditions and
schedule.
• All questions must be submitted via email to the
Ansonia Recreation Director.

 The application shall include an income and expense budget for the program/activity.
 The application shall itemize the costs necessary to operate the program/activity.
 When is each expense due to be paid?
 To whom are these expenses expected to be paid?
 How will these expenses be paid?
 The application shall specify how the program/activity shall be funded.
 Are fees or dues going to be collected from participants? If yes, they need to be defined: how much?
When? Payable to whom? In what form are payments to be made?
 What other sources of funding are to be used?
 How much funding is requested from the City of Ansonia? What percentage of the program/activity
cost will the City’s grant comprise of the total program/activity cost?
 What will be done with any excess incomes that are received? If they are to be refunded to their
sources, how will this be managed?

 The application shall specify the calendar dates and times of program
activities that shall occur (including backup/alternate dates and times as
applicable).
 The application shall specify the locations where the events and activities will
take place.
