CREATIVE DANCES

Creative Dance blends movement, music, improvisation, and


basic dance steps while providing an excellent introduction for the
future study of all dance techniques. Students
learn dance fundamentals while improving motor skills, self-
expression, confidence, imagination and social development.

Modern dance is a broad genre of western concert or theatrical dance,


primarily arising out of Germany and the United States in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries. Modern dance is often considered to have
emerged as a rejection of, or rebellion against classical ballet.

Street dances
Street dance, also informally referred to as
street, is an umbrella term which
encompasses a range of dance styles
characterised by descriptions such as hip
hop, funk and breakdancing. Its eclectic
nature has spawned a whole new street
dance lexicon, including terms such as
popping, locking, waving
and krumping.

Jazz is a music genre that originated in the


African-American communities of New Orleans,
United States, in the late 19th and early 20th
centuries, and developed from roots in blues
and ragtime. Jazz is seen by many as
'America's classical music'.
