Good morning ladies and gentlemen and honorable judges. I’m the forth speaker of this
opposition side. As a last speaker my job is to summarise this case. Today’s motion is early
school start times negatively impact the lives of the students, and therefore school should start
later. As ussual, as a opponent team I’m completely disagree of this statement because early
school start times positively impact the lives of the students.

Ladies and gentleman, our first speaker spoke to you about school should start early
because later start time will give negative impact in after school activities. Morning schools
provide a more convenient opportunity for the school to provide extra – curricular activities.
Extra – curricular activities are held in the evening with more easy to get a room with no
interruption of activities. For example, high school athletics are very important to many students
who have obvious concerns about the impact of a change in start times on their ability to
participate. If schools get out later, some athletes might be required to leave class early in order
to attend a match. In this case, students may have to choose between a game and a test, a
choice no student have to make. She also spoke about, school should also start early because
in the morning our mind is fresh. In the morning, our mind will be relaxed and this is ideal for
learning. Learning in the morning session can also provide comfort to the students because of
the weather and the environment in the mornings more pleasant for learning.

Then, our second speaker told you that the research presented above provides
examples of findings that have consistently demonstrated that pushing back the start times of
morning classes for adolescents results in improve mood, attention and learning for students.
Students actually use the extra hour in the morning for sleeping and are not spending another
hour at night on the computer, watching TV, socializing or doing homework. He also said that
behavioral factors are also important to consider. According to a 2011 study conducted by staff
at the centers for disease control and prevention, insufficient sleep among high school students
is associated with a wide range of what are deemed “ health risk behaviors” including lack of
exercise, poor diet, use of computers for three or more hours each day, physical fighting,
depression and suicidal tendencies.

After that, our third speaker said that students who begin earlier have more time for after
school jobs and activities, schools may benefit by saving some money and parents might find
that an early start works better with their schedules. Starting the day early also means more
time for after school tutoring and that student athletes miss fewer classes to travel to after
school competitions. After that, there are specific advantages for parents if younger grades have
early start times. Starting school early may eliminate the need for morning childcare if parents
are able to drop off their kids before work. After school, the daycare picks up the students and
parents retrieve their children in the evening from the center. This is necessary for some parents
to have time to travel to work, especially if they have a longer commute.

So ladies and gentleman, in conclusion our team, early school start times positively
impact the lives of the students. Audience on the floor, please think about your children. I don’t
think that school ’s should have a later starting time. I think that going to school earlier, and
getting out earlier is a better system. Being excused from school early gives you the rest of the
day to do homework, and other activities like sports. I think that schools should change the
system, making the school day start at an earlier start time and an earlier release time.
Therefore I’m convincing on this issue. Ladies and gentleman and honorable judges, thank you
for listening my speech.
