1.0 Introduction

As we know, English Language has become a lingua-franca of the world. From the
small country to the big country, it is the most useful medium of communication. English
is not only being used widely in the internet, gadgets or electrical appliances but
education too. For such, English language plays a significance role to the students or
teachers. Lots of students’ reference books especially for them in the colleges or
universities are using the same language, English.

In order to uphold the English Languange skills among the pupils, they need to
read, speak and listen to English more. The pupils should challenge themselves and
take the opportunity to learn English, especially during “English Day”. This programme
was introduce by the Ministry of Education to enhance the pupils confidence in line
with the National Education Philosophy. It is compulsory to use English conversation
for one day in a week so that the pupils will be able to train themsleves to be bold and
not ashamed when they speak English. There are no other languages allowed to be
used through out the day which is Monday. Every mistake of the English usage is a
lesson.

2.0 Objectives

The objectives of “English Day” are:

 To organize one of the activities for SJK(T) Ldg Jen. Bhg Alpha Bernam English
Panel 2018.
 To grow the interest in learning English Language.
 To gain the confidence in speaking English.
 To increase their (pupils and teachers) knowlege in English especially
vocabularies.
 To realize that English is important for their future.
 To help pupils by preparing a platform for pupils to use English.
 To learn about English indirectly.

3.0 Rational

The implementation of the "English Day" is in an effort to assist the improvement

of English proficiency and pupils achievement in this school. It is hoped that this
programme will be able to provide a favorable space and exposure for all the pupils to
use English in their daily life. Besides that, the “English Day” activities are expected to
enhance the usage of English as a second languange in Malaysia.

4.0 Group Target

All the pupils , teachers and the stafs of SJK(T) Ldg Jen. Bhg Alpha Bernam.

5.0 Date, Time and Venue

“English Day” will be conducted every Monday during the school session through out
the year in the SJK(T) Ldg Jen. Bhg Alpha Bernam.

8.0 Conclusion

It is hoped that the implementation of this programme will help students to be

more confident to speak and use of English among friends or with the other
school staffs. Cooperation from everyone including the teahers and the
managements are much appreciated. It is one of the stratergies to help in
ensuring a smooth and successful programme.
