PROPERTIES OF AROKAKA (AMORPHOPHALLUS PAEONIIFOLIUS) FOUND IN

QUEZON, PALAWAN

ABSTRACT

The study entitled “Botanical Study, Phytochemical Analysis and Medicinal

Properties of Arokaka (Amorphophallus Paeoniifolius) Found in Quezon, Palawan” was

conducted in Quezon National High School campus Quezon, Palawan from July to October

2017.

With the use of descriptive, naturalistic observation and experimental methods of

research, the botanical characteristics, phytochemical content and medicinal properties of

Arokaka plant was identified.

The result of the phytochemical screening revealed that the plant have

phytochemical content of alkaloid, steroid, flavonoid, saponin, tannin and cardiac

glycoside.

It is therefore concluded that the Arokaka plant has medicinal properties such as

antioxidant, antimicrobial, anthelmintic and antidiarrhoeal.

The study produced a monograph containing the botanical characteristics,

phytochemical content and medicinal properties of the Arokaka plant.
