Reference/Aid Worksheet (synopsis)
1. Ask the class to begin by giving some examples of what they
believe to be short stories and what makes it a short story.
[As a class brainstorm characteristics that define a short story,
length (words), number of characters, time span, well-defined
plot, etc]
2. Tell students that they need to read the summary before they
read the whole short story.
Activities 3. Get students to work in groups of three.
4. Distribute the worksheets to the students and ask them to
further examine the details of the story.
5. Discuss in class about the details that the students should look
for when they read the whole story.
6. Conclude the lesson today by asking the students to read the
short story 'Cheat!' as their homework.
