 Carlos Salinas de Gortari
born in Mexico City; April 3, 1948,The life of Carlos Salinas de Gortari is marked by
tragedy, among his tremendous feats even if they seem rumors, they are not found:
kill a maiden at 5 years of age, steal the presidential elections in Mexico, push an
unfavorable treaty of free trade for Mexico with its neighbors United States and
Canada, robberies and frauds with PEMEX, robberies and frauds in its government,
robberies at the hands of its brothers Raúl and Enrique, of which, one, Raúl, was in
jail for washing of money and the other, Enrique, died in 1996, probably because of
an affair related to the narco, and to say of the privatization of several national
companies to his compadres.
He completed elementary studies at Abraham Lincoln School, high school at No. 3
"Heroes de Chapultepec" and studied at the No. 1 campus of the National
Preparatory School based at the Old College of San Ildefonso, and then obtained the
degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Carlos Salinas ascended to the presidency in one of the most controversial elections
in the recent history of Mexico, in which various irregularities occurred. The election
was held on July 6, 1988; After an economic instability of more than 10 years, the
structure of the PRI was weakened and for the first time in the modern history of
Mexico an opposition candidacy was seen, such as the Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas
Solórzano, as a real possibility of assuming the presidency of the Republic.
