1.How many seeds were in your initial pepper? This represents the first generation.
I used lemon seeds because I didn’t have a pepper. The count was 12

2. How many plants were alive in your pepper population after only 5 generations?
248832

3. Describe your graph.

Y axis contains the number of plants as the X axis contains the years. I used a scatter line plot to
plot the number of seeds over time. I also listed the number of seeds so you could see the exact
count.

4. Make a list of five environmental factors that might limit natural or wild populations (not necessarily
pepper plant or human populations).
POPULATION GROWTH

1.Food Availability
2.Climate conditions
3.Enough population to support environment
4.The land itself
5.Water availability

5. If a population were subjected to some of these environmental factors for a considerable length of
time, would you expect to see any changes in the population? Based on the information provided above,
explain your answer. BE SPECIFIC – which factors would cause which changes?
1.) As for the availability of food, you would notice change in the population due to animals
starving leaving them to die or to become easy prey due to lack of energy and nutrients.
2.) Abnormal climate patterns. The reason is if you have a bunch of herbivores living in an area
plants are there go to for food, if those plants die due to an early frost or extreme heat it will make
it so that those herbivores have nothing to eat and will starve if they cant receive the food that they
need,

3.) A decrease in the population, if that population grows too large for that environment to
support. Reason for this is very simple, animals need to eat, if they have nothing to eat, because of
the vast amount of population, then one of two things could happen one they will die of lack of food
or they will become food for others to survive. Example of survival of the fittest.
4.) Land itself is can be an issue with mankind taking over the land and building more buildings
and destroying natural environments this could be a factor to the plant population growth.
5.) Availability of water is crucial to the population of any species. Without water, you mess with
the plants which messes with the animals, which messes with humans. It’s a chain of events that you
want to avoid, but for plants it’s a crucial necessity to live and thrive.
