Based on the results of research conducted that before the training of
newborn care in categorize No Independence is 20 respondents this is caused by the factor of age and low education level and lack of support from family. Meanwhile, after the observations carried Door To Door and newborn care training with Independence Category is 17 respondents and category Not Independent 3 respondents. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of newborn care training on primipara mother independence. This description of the behavior is assessed based on the independence status of the informant, several factors that want to be seen, such as independence, ability, knowledge, information sources, and support from family, neighbors and cadres. This type of research is Pre-Experiment with design One Group Pre- Post Test Design, which is a method of research that reveal the causal relationship by engaging a group of subjects (Nursalam, 2016) .. The sample in this research is 20 respondents primiparity mothers with using total sampling. Then the data is analized by using SPSS 20 For Windows at start with wilcoxon test. The results showed that Independence Primipara mother before Training Newborn Care, most of the total respondents included in the category Not Independence 20 respondents. Independence of Primipara Mother after Newborn Care Training with Independent category of 17 respondents with value of analysis result (ρ = 0,000) with significant level of 0.05 (p 0.05) so that it can be stated that H1 is accepted, So it can be concluded that there is effect or influence of new born care traing toward primipara mothers independence in Talkandang Situbondo . Newborn care training is conducted to make primipara mothers self sufficient in newborn care. as well as to improve mother's independence in caring for her baby.
