Ben, Henry, & Caegan watch 1" grade's dress rehearsal
before Art & Music Night
THE PAST TWO WEEKS W!
ave been discussing which letters are vowels
and why they are special. We also have been
learning some special rules (like all ‘real” words
must have at least one vowel!) See if your child can
name the vowels and some of the rules we have
discussed.
FYI
Thursday, April 19" all nine of AEEC’s
Kindergarten classrooms will be taking a field trip
to the Montgomery Zoo. When we return from
Spring Break, I will send home the permission form
for you to fill out and return. In the meantime, if
you are interested in becoming a chaperone for this
field trip, please let me know! For the safety of the
Kindergarten students, you may not bring siblings if
you choose to be a chaperone. Chaperones will need
io follow the buses or car pool with other parents.
Please remind your child the first thing they should
do in the mornings when they arrive in the
classroom is to turn in their Homework Folders. If
their folder is not put in the basket in the morning, I
typically do not have a chance to change the books
until after dismissal. This means they have to wait
until the next day before receiving.
NEEDED
We need some hand sanitizer for our classroom. I
have a mounted holder in the bathroom, so each
time a child goes, they can choose between the
sanitizer or using soap and water at the sink. I have
smaller bottles around different areas of the
classroom as well
We also are always in need of disinfecting wipes to
our tables, sink, water fountain, bathroom, ete.
It is easier to clean with wipes rather than with a
spray bottle and washcloth

PARENT READING
This week’s reading is titled Developing Geometric
Thinking through Activities That Begin with Play.
This article discusses the rich and stimulating
instruction in geometry that can be provided through
playful activities with mosaics such as pattern blocks
or design tiles. It includes an interesting mosaic puzzle
to describe activities at various developmental levels
and how the activities can help develop children's
geometric thinking. If you signed up for the ‘Paperless
Classroom Communication’ option, the reading can be
found on the right side of our blog under Suggested
Parent Readings.
ONE LAST THING
Did you know that thousands of kids are born every
year with special hearts, hearts that do not work
exactly right? By participating in Jump Rope For
Heart, your child can help other kids.
Information about this program is in
today’s Friday Folder.
Have a wonderful Spring Breakil! -S Jones
