“THE CARBON CYCLE”

By

Divine U.
FADE IN:
LONG SHOT
Adam walks into the scene and offloads his Picnic basket.
[Camera zooms in] A carbon atom is shown whilst arrows
points to description boxes representing what carbon is.

(There is a blanket already

prepared in the scene, and
a fish in a bowl. A Factory is positioned
on the left. A plant is next to the picnic
and the river behind the picnic)

Box: 1
Carbon is a pure element and in group four on the periodic
table.
Box: 2
Carbon can take shapes such as graphite, diamond and
fullerenes used in medicine.
Carbon is stored in many ways in our body.

MID-SHOT

Such as GLUCOSE, an arrow points at Adam smearing honey

onto his bread. Keratin, we [pan up] to see Adam flicking
his hair and giving a smirk. Cholesterol, Adam swallows his
food.

CAMERA CUTS
LONGSHOT

Adam stands openly next to a round shape representing the

world.

(The background turns blue

Only focusing on Adam
and the world)

Box: 3
23% of humans are made of carbon and 15% of the earth is
made of carbon. (Pause) Carbon percentages have not changed

2
drastically, so where does all the carbon go? Plants are
crucial in the distribution of carbon.

POV SHOT MOVING TOWARDS A FLOWER

PANNING SHOT 160 DEGREES FOLLOWING THE SUNLIGHT
CAMERA ZOOMS INTO THE RIVER
ZOOMS OUT
LONG SHOT

The sun, water and soil are perfectly placed in the scene
representing the photosynthesis diagram.

(Arrows point to
The description boxes)

Box: 4
Energy from sunlight is used to drive the process.
Box: 5
Carbon Dioxide is taken from the air.
Box: 6
And water and minerals like glucose are taken up from the
soil.

ZOOM IN ON PLANT’S LEAF

MID-SHOT 90 DEGREES
Box: 7
The roots absorb water and minerals, the stomata have
guard’s cells which controls what comes in (Carbon dioxide)
and what comes out (Oxygen).
CAMERA ZOOMS IN ON LEAF
Box: 8
Chloroplast absorbs sunlight which is essential for
photosynthesis.
ZOOMS OUT TO EQUATION
Box: 9
Water + Carbon Dioxide =>
Glucose + Oxygen (sunlight)

3
PANNING SHOT

Box: 10
Glucose is used in respiration or converted into starch and
other food types.
ZOOM IN

We see Adams Food laid, all containing glucose, out on top

of the blanket. He picks up the broccoli and throws it away
with a disgusted look on his face.

(Avocados, nuts, butter, bread,

coloured compounds = broccoli)

PANNING SHOT FOLLOWING BROCCOLI

MID-SHOT

The broccoli hits the ground and a lady bug eats the
broccoli [close-up]. A robin comes along and eats the
ladybug [Mid-shot], the other bird laughs mockingly.

PANNING SHOT
MEDIUM SHOT

They fly away and the robin that ate the ladybug poops into
the fish’s bowl who eats the waist of the robin and dies
dramatically therefore tipping the bowl into the river.
ZOOM INTO RIVER

The fish decomposes. [zooming out] We see the time go by

quickly, making Adam old.
Box: 11
Overtime the bones become fossils, this process takes
millions of years, or even more, depending on the size of
the animal.
90 DEGREES PANNING
We see a factory
Box: 12
Combustion = burning fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels are used for cars, electricity, factories etc.

4
Box: 13
After combustion, Carbon Dioxide is released into the
atmosphere and the ‘Carbon Cycle’ repeats again.

Establishing Shot
We see the whole scene which represents the carbon cycle’s
diagram (arrows will be used to represent the flow).
