PHASE 1 – ROAD WORKS, BRIDGE AND CULVERT REPLACEMENTS

What are we doing?

• Improving Queen Street East, including road reconstruction, bridge and culvert
replacements over Shaw's Creek, drainage and boulevard improvements,
providing on-street parking, decorative street lighting, streetscaping
enhancements and landscaping. The work includes, but is not limited to:
o bridge and culvert removals;
o asphalt removal, road excavation and boulevard grading;
o new structures with architectural finishes;
o storm sewer;
o vegetated retaining walls;
o barrier curbs;
o decorative coloured pattern concrete splash pads;
o wider concrete sidewalks;
o pavement with wider lanes;
o decorative architectural streetlighting;
o rest areas with street furniture;
o gateway feature on the East side (traffic calming measure)
o improved pavement markings;
o landscaping; and,
o minor related works.

Where?
• Queen Street East from West of Railway Tracks to Catherine Street.

When?
• Start: March 26, 2018
• Finish: December 21, 2018, weather permitting.

Working Hours
• Our Contractor’s normal working hours are from 7:00a.m. to 7:00p.m, from
Monday to Friday.
• Some work will occur on Saturdays from 7:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
• These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand
this may cause some inconvenience, but a shorter working day would mean the
project would take longer to complete.

Traffic Control
• Permanent road closure will be required for the duration of the Contract.
• Queen Street East from West of Railway Tracks to Catherine Street will be
closed from March 26, 2018 to December 21, 2018.
• All residents within the project limits will have full access to their properties either
from the west or east ends of Queen Street.
• Emergency services will be notified of the road closure.
• Barriers and signs will be placed for safety and direction, as required under the
Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Driveway Access
• We anticipate that driveway accesses will be maintained.
• If we need to block your driveway for a short time you will be contacted to
arrange for the best time and for alternate access. If your driveway is blocked,
you may choose to park on a side street for a short time.
• All businesses in Alton Village will be open.
• Please call the Project Manager if you have special needs related to access.

• The Region of Peel will keep you informed of any substantial changes in the
project scope or schedule.
• We are committed to ensuring minimum disruption to your homes and
businesses.
