Introduction

1 Introduction
This document describes the steps needed for the configuring the BMW A-sample APIX
display using the ADI HDMI-2-APIX converter (ADV7682).

1.1 A-sample Overview

A-Sample will be delivered as a set of evaluation boards, Intel Reference Platform
(BFH) and other peripherals mounted on a carrier. A-sample is 2 variants

1. Minimal A-Sample (MinAS)

a. Environment to implement KPIs and to perform general engineering
work
b. 2 HDMI displays connectable
2. Full A-Sample Config (FullAS)
a. Environment to perform all KPI measurements
b. Equipped with all peripheral and 1 APIX display

2 Configuring the Extreme Switch

The A-sample that is being delivered required to configure the Extreme switch to get
the AVB working.

Please note that the configuration mentioned in the below sections are only examples
and may not work if used as it is. The configuration has to be adapted to the
Customer’s configuration.

2.1 Perquisites
A windows/Linux machine with

 Terminal emulation software such as Tera Terminal for windows.

 TFTP server (such as open TFTP Server)installed on windows
 License from Extreme to enable the AVB feature pack on the switch.
 AVB License, the user needs on register on
http://www.extremenetworks.com/support/. Generally it takes around 1-2
days to get access, after the access is granted, AVB service pack can be
enabled.

2.2 Connecting to the Switch

By default, the switch has no IP address configured so start the connection to the
console using the serial cable included in the package and terminal emulator with
9600 baud rate, 8, n, 1.

On the serial terminal,

 Login into the switch using default user admin

2.3 Enable AVB License

Generate the license_code on the support portal at
http://www.extremenetworks.com/support . Please refer to the Chapter 3 for voucher
codes.

On the serial terminal,

 enable license <license code>.

Please refer to “Basic_Switch_Operation.pdf” and AVB functionality in

“Using_AVB_with_Extreme_Switches.pdf” at the link above.

2.4 Configuring IP address

To configure the management IP address for firmware transfer, the following steps are
needed:

On the serial terminal, execute the following command

 configure vlan mgmt ipaddress 192.168.1.111 255.255.255.0

2.5 Updating Firmware

To use the AVB features, the firmware has to be updated to the latest one (e.g.
summitX-15.5.2.9.xos).

On the windows Machine,

 Start C:\OpenTFTPServer\RunStandAloneMT.bat
 Copy firmware into C:\OpenTFTPServer\<name of the Firmware>

On the serial terminal, execute the following command to download the image

 download image <Windows Machine IP address> <name of the firmware>

2.6 Enable AVB

Enable AVB using the following steps

On the serial terminal,

 enable avb
 enable avb ports all
 enable avb ports 2,4,6

2.7 Static device configuration

By using a static stream configuration, without the stream reservation protocol, you
have to configure a static device setup needs to be configured. So you have to
configure single vlans, which contains the used mac addresses of the devices.

On the serial Terminal,

 Get the Mac address using:

show fdb port 2,4,6
 enable learning ports all
 create vlan intel-avb tag 2
 create vlan intel-avb-class-b tag 3
 configure vlan "intel-avb" add port 2 tagged
 configure vlan "intel-avb" add port 4 tagged
 configure vlan "intel-avb" add port 6 tagged
 configure vlan "intel-avb-class-b" add port 2 tagged
 configure vlan "intel-avb-class-b" add port 4 tagged
 configure vlan "intel-avb-class-b" add port 6 tagged
 create fdbentry <Switch port Mac address> "Default" ports 2

 disable learning ports 2,4,6

2.8 Port Mirroring

To see the traffic on the network, a mirror port has to be configured, following steps
are needed to configure the mirror port.

On the serial Terminal,

 show mirror
 configure mirror "DefaultMirror" to port 7
 configure mirror "DefaultMirror" add port 2
 configure mirror "DefaultMirror" add port 4
 configure mirror "DefaultMirror" add port 6
 enable mirror "DefaultMirror"

2.9 gPTP
Configure the PTP using the following steps

On the serial Terminal,

 configure network-clock gptp default-set priority1 100

 show network-clock gptp ports all

2.10 Save Configuration

Save the all the configuration using the following,

On the serial Terminal,

 save primary

2.11 Identify Switch Serial Number

To get the serial number of the switch you have to call on the serial Terminal,

 show version

After the above command is executed, the output is shown similar to the below. The
serial number is identified as shown in the below example (marked in YELLOW)

Redemption Instructions:
The instructions below provide the necessary information to acquire and install the
software or the software key that will allow use of the additional functionality
requested in XOS on your Extreme Networks switch or from non-switch software on a
separate server (i.e. OpenStack):

1. If the software license is for XOS on an Extreme Networks switch, then obtain the Switch Serial
Number If the software license is for non-switch software (i.e. OpenStack) then you can skip this step:

First, obtain the serial number of the switch you wish to upgrade. This can be done by looking at the
bottom panel label or by issuing the "show version" CLI command via a serial or telnet connection.
The later portion of the System ID displayed in the "show version" command is the serial number of
the unit. The serial number is a ten character alphanumeric string (e.g. 9737A-01234). Instructions on
serial and telnet communications are found in the ExtremeXOS Concepts Guide.

2. For XOS software licensing, you will be asked for the switch
serial number and the entitlement number of this voucher (printed above on this page).
For non-switch software licensing (i.e. OpenStack), you will just need the entitlement number of this
voucher printed above this page. If you encounter any difficulties, you may obtain your software
license by contacting Extreme Networks Global Technical Assistance Center (GTAC) directly. For
GTAC contact information, go to: www.extremenetworks.com/support.

3. Enable the Software

For XOS software licenses, once you receive the software key, boot the system and connect to the
ExtremeXOS Command Line Interface (CLI) via telnet or the console port. Enable the license key
using CLI commands. The key will be processed and you will see a success message displayed via
CLI. If there is a problem with your key installation, an error message will be displayed. Please re-
check the steps above. If the problem persists, contact the Extreme Networks GTAC.
For non-switch software licenses, no key is provided - but the software is made available for
download to your server.
