THE FORTY-NINTH AND LAST KEY OF

THE AKLO UNVEILINGS

by ALLEN MACKEY

Note: The Last Key of the Aklo Unveilings. What are the Aklo
Unveilings? In the exhaustive research volume by Daniel Harms, the
third edition of the Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia, we find:
"AKLO UNVEILINGS. Levels of initiation in the cult of Glaaki. A cult member
may undergo up to forty-eight of these Unveilings, and the forty-ninth takes place
when Glaaki calls his worshiper to him for the last time. It is interesting to note
that John Dee's Enochian system of magic also includes forty-eight Keys, or
incantations, as well as a forty-ninth that is unknown and which could invoke
God. See Aklo; Glaaki. (Letter (9/23/94), AzOth; "The Inhabitant of the Lake",
Campbell; Selected Letters IV, Lovecraft (O).)"
--Daniel Harms, Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia, third edition

Here is a rare glimpse into an infamous cult document from the

darkest shades of the London occult underground. Its an excerpt from
the Aklo Unveilings, which had first been uttered by serpent-people
with forked tongues in fanged mouths in the dim reaches of the past.
The texts had been kept safe from Inquisitorial eyes for centuries, and
passed down to a strange cult based in the Severn Valley, United
Kingdom.

The specific extract selected for publication is the Forty-Ninth Key of

the Aklo Unveilings, which is the secret Key. As Daniel Harms put it
(concerning the Enochian Keys, which is applicable here in a way
which must not be spoken of at the present: the "forty-ninth that is
unknown and which could invoke God." Or in this case, Gla'aki, the
Inhabitant of the Lake and the Lord of Dead Dreams.

Each Key for each seeker is different. With succesful bonding shall
come forth the Dream-Sendings of Gla'aki, that once and future Great
One, He Who Is Gla'aki by praised! These are the words of His cultus,
those who maintain the secret ways of the Golden Age.
From the introductory notations to the chapter, The Last Key of
Gla'aki is the final rite of initiation; with this hidden Key comes the
Power. Keep the ways hidden. Speak clear the words. Drop the
offerings in the proper places.

The Forty-Ninth and Last Key

Seek ye the hidden wisdom, not here but in the black spaces beyond
space, in between the dimensions we know here on this doomed
planet. Guard ye steps well.

Learn well to speak the timeless words, for they are Powers
undreamt. From the shadows of the Vaults of Zin do the Dream-
Sendings or psychic emanations of Gla'aki come forth. Gla'aki is one
with the Great Old Ones known to dwell upon the Earth. Gla'aki, for
instance, is mired by the undefeatable binding spells of the vengeful
Elder Gods, those Towers of Living Flame from the Eye of Glyu-Vho.

When the unseen locked is mounted by the Key, during the stellar
configuration known to the ancients as the Eyes of the Phoenix. The
now-obsolete star-sign of the Phoenix is now a part of Canis Major, or
the Sign of the Big Dog.

So therein is the way, a clue to the lock, which is only revealed in full
by the pulsing suggestions of the Lurker in the Lake. Only those who
have been chosen to bear the Mark of the Green Decay.

Hear this, O Undead Ones, and wail in terror! Remember the Sacred
Pacts made by these Keys in secret in the Golden Ages!
By the Lurid Dreaming One, whose time of rebirth is said to be near;
come forth and shine upon the crumbling vistas of knowledge which
had been lost during the dim Elder Times, and yet their voices
whisper of the much-coveted powers of the Last Aklo Key.
It is said in the most obscure of learned texts collected from around
the world that the power of the 49th Key of the Aklo Unveilings
involves the evocation of Gla'aki, who then reaches out to inhabit the
vacant and blasted mind of the Celebrant.
Look within, O Seeker of Truth, and know the ways that are hidden
within. You are the spark required to empower a few of the rites
contained within this Holy Text.
By the transmutative abilities of the Ancient Ones, whose tales shall
finally be told!
By the Shining-works of the Ancient Ones, whose Voice and Lesser
Priest is Gla'aki, the Dweller in the Black Lake!
From the guarded dreams of distant aeons and the mental touch of
alien minds, come forth and speak!
By the Hook of the Acolytes, which is cast by the followers in the dead
of the moon, for only in the dark places may the shadows take form in
the World of Horrors, the physical realm in which we live here on this
third rock from the Sun.
This is the final lesson of He Who Lurks Beneath the Lake.
Eldritch Epitaph: The secret is at long last shown and yet it will be
ignored and forgotten. The Signs are Here, and the time is nigh. Or so
guide my spirits--those immortal astral Masters of the Elder Lore.
Know, then, these secrets and yet live to tell the tale, only to be
unbound in the power of the wandering mind is to Remember!
Remember the old stories, those long-forgotten tales first spoken
during the Nameless Aeons.
Hear me,
O Great One
Gla'aki!
Hear me, O
Inhabitant of
The Lake,
Gla'aki!
Hear the humming voices of the Great Old Ones, and the Ancient
Ones, and hear the clandestine methods of Those From Outside.
Ai! Ai! Beware! The All-Consuming Black Hole of the Seven Suns,
awaken and come forth anew into this world, and show favor to the
Faithful Ones who serve your daily needs, for we are the ones who
shall inherit this blasted planet Earth after the much-feared Return of
the Ancient Ones!
Who can say when the time is for their dreaded return to this world;
only as foretold by the Ones who came before us, that is to say,
recorded by the Priesthood of the Serpent People. From the scaly
fingers of the Hith, as the upper class of the Serpent People had
referred to themselves, to the cultists who dwell with the Spike of
Gla'aki lodged deep within their desiccated bodies, to the unmoving
clutches of the living dead, those hordes under the spell of Gla'aki,
whose Hunger may never be abated ...
Naxyr! Ai! Ai!
By the Eyes of Horror!
Gof'ph--ng'lluii tres'sel'no!
Thus ends this transmission.
Eldritch Epitaph: The secret is at long last shown and yet it will be
ignored and forgotten. The Signs are Here, and the time is nigh. Or so
guide my spirits--those immortal and invisible Masters of the Elder
Lore.
From the Final Notations: [Hand-scrawled notations at the end of the
Key.] The text of the translation now before you is from the able work
of a patronage known only as Doctor Peters, to serve the Master and
guide more souls to damnation. For once ceremonially impaled with a
detached spine of Gla'aki, one does not return. Ever. And thy soul is
forfeit.
Commentary: All true words. However, the text was further edited by
Allen Mackey after its release to certain allied groups who practiced
the old ways still in the wild places--all of the plasma-laden
geometries of the Vile Vortices across the electro-magnetic Ley lines
of the Crystal Earth, that secret matrix of light and design.
