Research Title: Automated Students Attendance - EGATE with SMS and Enrollment

System

Abstract

The rapid change of technology nowadays has made it easier for schools to manage
communication and security measures which promote reliability, consistency, and availability.
Yet some schools are still struggling to leverage this standard.
In order to make it easier for School Heads, teachers, students and the parents to have an
effective communication, there must be an automated system that is capable of performing
different functionalities such as online e-gate attendance, text blast, automated enrolment system
and more importantly ensuring an effective tool in disseminating important events and
announcements of the school in timely manner.
The proponent acknowledges that the information technology is essential in business and
companies. Just like any company, an institution like the Department of Education, Universities,
colleges and High School public or private need computers and internet connection in its
operation to make the vital activities in school.
With these needs present, the proponent have developed an EGATE system with attendance and
automated enrolment functionalities and text blast for faster and reliable communication from the
school to students and parents which will be used by Claro M. Recto ICT High School for an
effective School Governance leading to quality education. The system uses IoT (Internet of
Things) technology. The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the use of intelligently connected
devices and systems to leverage data gathered by embedded sensors and actuators in machines
and other physical objects. IoT can underpin solutions that improve decision-making and
productivity in manufacturing, retail, agriculture, education and other sectors.

R&D (Research and Development) method was used for this study where it assumed new
scientific knowledge discovered due to a series of linear and sequential stages that consists of
Basic Research, Applied Research and Development The R&D model assumes that science has a
monopoly over knowledge, technology is an outcome of science, and economic development is
due to technology development. The R&D model confines innovation to technology and then
technology to R&D.
