The double-transceiver subsystem consists of DDRM module and fan units. Its main
functions are as follows:
l Processing baseband signals.
l Transmit diversity and 4-way receive diversity.
l Receiving signals.
l Synthesizing frequencies.
l Performing loopback test.
l Amplifying power and then transmitting it through two TRXs individually.
l Each DDRM modules supplies power for and monitors its corresponding fan unit.
Fan units and DDRM module uses 1:1 configuration. They can be replaced
individually.

4.1 Services
Table 4-1 lists the services that the BTS3006C supports.
4.2 Features
The special features of the BTS3006C with respect to the following aspects are
described here.
4.2.1 EDGE
The BTS3006C supports the system message broadcast and resource indication,
which are compatible with the 3GPP R99.
4.2.2 Handover
4.2.4 Encryption
l The BTS3006C can support the static power control of the BTS.
l The BTS3006C can support the dynamic power control of the BTS.
4.2.6 Detection
l The BTS3006C supports the dual polarization antenna to reduce the number of
antennas in the cell.
l The BTS3006C supports the TMA to improve the receive sensitivity.
The BTS3006C supports the extended cell function. The coverage range can reach
120 km with this function.
The BTS3006C uses the –48 V DC, 110V AC (double live line) and 220V AC power
supply.

As shown in Figure 5-1, remote maintenance is implemented on the PC. The PC forms
a network with the OMC, BSC, and BTS.
The remote maintenance GUI uses the topological view. You can see the name, type,
location, number, and running status of each NE of the network in the GUI.
You can view the detailed performance data, alarm data, and configuration data of the
NE to be maintained.
You can also operate or maintain an NE through the topological view.
Through the alarm management function, the BTS3006C can detect and report
equipment faults and abnormal functioning in real time.
This function includes collecting, clearing, querying, handling, saving, explaining,
prompting, filtering, and analyzing alarms.
In addition, the online help and layered alarm filtering function help you to quickly locate
the faults and provide you with fault recovery methods.
The O&M subsystem of the BTS3006C allows addition, deletion, modification, and
consistency check of the BTS data. It supports both dynamic and static data
configurations.
The O&M subsystem of the BTS3006C provides the following maintenance functions:
l Downloads software to, start and initialize the board or module.
l Records the interface tracing message and running status of the BTS through
logs.
l Implements the in-position test for the boards.
l Provides Abis link test, channel test, site/cell/carrier/board self check for the
DDRM.
l Provides fault management for the DBUS and the CBUS.
Chapter 6 Reliability
I. Redundancy Design
The local bus uses redundancy design. The TRX mutual aid is also supported.
The BTS3006C can automatically detect and diagnose faults in the hardware or
software and report them as alarms. It can also detect environmental status and report
the abnormality in time.
When inserted into a wrong slot, the functional board cannot get into full contact with
the backplane. This prevents the equipment from being damaged.
When the temperature around the last level power amplifier is too high, the power
amplifier reports the excessive rise in temperature through an alarm.
l The BTS3006C provides power failure protection for programs and data.
l The boards of the BTS3006C provide protection against excessive voltage and
current.

iSite BTS3006C Base Station System Description
The BTS3006C needs no external lightning protection device. The antenna ports of the
DDPM have the 8KA/40KA lightning protection capability. The lightning protection of
the BTS3006C is implemented by directly connecting the conductor inside the DDPM
antenna ports to the ground.
Seizure check is conducted on various software resources in the system. The check
mechanism can ensure the release of hung-up resources and the output of the related
logs and alarms.
When the software is active, the task monitoring function can monitor any possible fault
in the software or hardware. In addition, the detected faults can be reported. Task
status and system abnormalities can also be monitored.
The system records user operations within a certain period and saves the recorded
information to the system operation log. The operation log can be used to locate the
error or exception because of incorrect operation so that the system can be restored to
the normal state.

A single sector with 3–4 carriers needs single combination.
