 Standard Splice – Type B.1
• Coupler type B1 is most commonly used
in structural applications i.e. slabs, walls,
columns etc., particularly in situations
where both rebars can be rotated freely
or at least one of two bars is not
restricted to rotate and can move axially.
• Type B1 coupler interior has a full length
right hand thread.
• The standard splice consists of two right
hand threaded rebar ends of same
diameter with a coupler. The thread at
rebar end is a standard thread whose
effective length is not less than half the
coupler length.

Transition Splice with Different Bar Dia – Type B.3

• Coupler type B3 is used in situations

where rebars to be spliced together
are of different diameters and at least
one can rotate and move axially.
• Type B.3 coupler interior has a right
hand thread but both ends are of
different diameter with thread lengths
as per specifications .
• The transition splice consists of two
rebar ends of different diameters but
both rebar having right hand thread
and a transition coupler. The effective
thread length at rebar ends must not
exceed the corresponding length of
similar diameter side of coupler.

TYPICAL QUALITY PROCEDURES
 BRIGHT STAR EST. - QUALITY PROCEDURES FOR REBAR COUPLERS AND BAR THREADING

The following procedures are proposed for monitoring the threading and installation of System ‘B’ CABR Couplers for
use on the following project:-

These procedures apply specifically to the use of CABR Couplers and do not apply to the use of other Coupler
systems. Similarly procedures for other coupler systems to not apply for the use of CABR couplers

The recommended procedures are shown below together with the required action for each procedure:-

A. THREADING FREQUENCY ACTION
