Course Description: Semester one course is designed to introduce student to the fundamentals of
computing such as hardware and software, data storage and health and
computers.

Second semester course is designed to have an in-depth look at Microsoft Word


2007, enabling them to create various documents such as letters, flyers, and
tables among others. In addition, they will learn the various formatting skills
which can easily be applied to Microsoft Word such as centre, bold, underline
etc. also they will learn various keyboard shortcuts. It is also intended to make
students proficient in social media communication and responsibilities, which is
an area a majority of students are lacking.

This course aims to provide practical experience which will includes elements of
discovery, and self-confidence, together with the practical skills that will prepare
students to meet the need for increased productivity.

Course Objectives: With active participation, illustration, discussion, group work and practical
sessions; at the end of the school year all students will be able to:

1.) Describe various features among other fundamentals of computing including


hardware and software
2.) Learn to properly use Microsoft word; prepare and create various documents.
3.) Analyze, evaluate, and communicate information effectively and ethically
through social media.

Course Evaluation: During each semester approximately ten (10) tests/assignments/project will be
given. Each evaluation will carry its own weight factor. The average of these will
be worth 2/3 of the final semester grade; the other 1/3 will come from final exam.
