PIE CHART
A pie chart is a graphic
representation of data using
sectors of a circle. The size of
each sector shows the
percentage of the overall data it
represents.

WHAT IS MEDIAN?
Median is the value in the middle of
the set of data when the data is
arranged in numerical order.
ODD DATA
If the total number of data is
odd, then the median is located
in the middle of the set of data
5, 6, 6, 7, 7
7, 7, 8, 9, 10
Median = 7
EVEN DATA
If the total number of data is
even, then the median is
‘average’ of the two middle
values of the set of data
4 ,5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10
Exercise
Find the median.
1. 12, 6, 3, 10, 2, 7, 6 3. 4kg, 8kg, 3kg, 8kg,7kg
Rearrange: Rearrange:
Median = Median =
2. 42, 34, 68, 57, 83, 67, 4. 18s, 11s, 9s, 16s, 20s,
49, 57, 45, 73 11s, 19s, 13s

Example 2:
In monthly test ,Ahmad obtains 86%
for BM, 78% for BI, 90% for
Mathematics and 76% for Science.
Calculate the mean of the data.
Mean x = 86 + 78 + 90 + 76

Example 1
Given the mean of a set of data 2, 4, 5, 8, x,
12 is 7. Find the value of x.
2 + 4 + 5 + 8 + x + 12 = mean
6
x + 31 = 7
6
x + 31 = 7
6
x + 31 = 7 x 6
x + 31 = 42
x = 42 - 31
x = 11
Example 2
Given the mean of a set of data 1, 2, 4, x + 3,
7, x, 8, 9 is 5. Find the value of x.
1+ 2+ 4+ x + 3+ 7+ x + 8+ 9 = mean
8
2x + 34 = 5
8
2x + 34 = 5
8
2x + 34 = 5 x 8
2x + 34 = 40
2x = 40 - 34
2x = 6
x = 6
