Opening Activities/Motivation:
T: Today we will investigate the inside of the egg and learn what each part of an egg can do! In order to fully
understand each part of the egg, we are doing to be scientists and observe a real egg!

***At this time set student behavior expectations and break students into pairs

Procedures: Once students have been broken into pairs, give each student a bowl with an egg, a handlense and
a toothpick to investigate.

Using the overhead projector display the egg diagram. Go through each part of the egg and explain the
purpose of the different parts. At this time students can use their toothpick and hand lense to find the
different parts of the egg. Continue this process until you have found and discussed all the egg parts.
