School Violence Prevention: Voting 407-10,


Y Y Y Y the House authorized federal funding of
security upgrades at K-12 schools nationwide
as well as training to help teachers and pupils
foresee looming gun violence in the student
body and intervene to prevent it. A yes vote
was to pass HR 4909.
Access to Experimental Drugs: Voting 259
Y Y N N -140, the House failed to reach a
supermajority needed to pass a bill that would
give the terminally ill broad access to
experimental drugs that have not been
approved by the Food and Drug
Administration. A yes vote was to pass HR
5247.
Tailoring of Financial Regulations: The
Y Y N N House voted, 247-169, to require federal
regulators to tailor future financial rules to fit
the size and risk profiles of individual banks.
A yes vote was to pass HR 1116, which also
would scale back rules issued under the 2010
Dodd-Frank oversight law.
Bar to Trump Financial Gain: Voting 182
N N Y Y -232, the House defeated a Democratic bid to
prohibit any tailoring of banking rules under
HR 1116 (above) that would financially
benefit President Trump, his family members
or senior administration officials. A yes vote
was to adopt the motion.
Relaxation of Banking Rules: The Senate
Y Y passed, 67-31, a bill to largely exempt
community banks and credit unions from the
Dodd-Frank oversight law. A yes vote was to
pass a bill (S 2155) that also would ease the
law’s impact on mid-sized regional banks and
Wall Street mega-banks.

Both chambers will take up a measure funding the government after
stopgap budget authority expires March 23, and the Senate will debate a
bill to combat sex trafficking on the Internet.
