Section 1. Overview
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this document is to describe requirement and specification for Internship Portal
System for Fakulti Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi (FTMK), UTeM. This document serves
as the foundation for this project.
1.2 Business Context
The organization sponsoring for this project is FTMK, UTeM. This project is to be used by the
internship committee.
Provide an overview of the business organization sponsoring the development of the software
application, including the mission statement and organizational objectives of the business unit.
1.3 Scope
The scope of this project covers the following process to manage the student internship.
1. Placement
2. Supervision
3. Grading
4. Reporting
1.4 User Characteristics
The user of the system as follows:-
1. Student

2 year diploma or 3 year degree student, whom has passed all pre-requisite subjects.
2. Internship Committee
A group of lecturer and administrative staff appointed by the faculty to manage student
internship program.
3. Faculty supervisor
Appointed lecturer to supervise the student internship progress and report.
4. Industry supervisor

Appointed personnel from the company to supervise the student progress and report.
5. Company
The place where the student applies or place at for internship.

Section 3. Requirements
3.1 Business Requirem ents
The business requirements are as follows: -
1. Placement
a. The process of placement is to be computerized starting from the application of

internship, approval from the company and acceptance of the student.
b. The committee is able monitor the status of the student placement via the
system.
c. The committee is able to update the student placement via the system.
d. The system will generate all necessary documents required for the placement
process.
2. Supervision
a. The system should allow the appointed supervisor to specify their supervision
preferences.
b. The system will suggest the allocation of student to be supervised by a

supervisor.

c. The system should allow the supervisor to record findings from 1 and 2 visit
into the system.
d. The system should prepare the entire necessary document required for the visits.
e. The system should allow the committee to assign supervision for each
supervisor.
f. The system should allow the student to record details of the industry supervisor
and create his account.
3. Grading
a. The system should allow the faculty and industry supervisor to record their
supervision.
b. The system should not allow the student to see their internship result before
endorsement of the senate.
4. Reporting

a. The system should allow the student to record their log book.
b. The system should allow the supervisors to view, comment and approved the log
book.
c. The system should be able to produce various types of reporting to management

purposes.
