Line Length (m) Bearing
AB 200.00 Roughly East
BC 98.00 1780
CD Not obtained 2700
DA 86.40 10

2.5 sec. 15

3. (a) Calculate the total drag, shear drag and the pressure drag exerted on 1 m length of an
infinite circular cylinder which has a diameter equal to 30mm, air of density 1.236 kg/m3
flowing past the cylinder with velocity 3.6 m per minute. Take total drag coefficient equal to
1.4 and shear drag coefficient equal to 0.185. 20

(b) Drive an expression for loss of head due to sudden contraction? Find the loss of head
when a pipe of diameter 200mm is suddenly enlarged to a diameter of 400mm. The rate of
flow of water through the pipe is 250 Ltr./Sec 20

Clay content = 55%
Silt content = 35%
Sand content = 10%
