It is a great blessing from Allah ˜‫ سبحانه و تعا‬that he has given me the ability to
design an Arabic alphabet colouring book. Alhamdulillah, after I had been given
the oppurtunity in the past few years, to teach at various makaatibs (Islamic schools)
during my holidays by the bounty of Allah ˜‫ سبحانه و تعا‬in which I taught students
of various ages. However, majority of my students were between the age of 4-6.
Whilst teaching, I soon realised that when they get taught the Arabic alphabet
their concentration does not remain for long as it is not as interactive. A lot of the
teaching was solely auditory, the students correcting their pronunciation by repeating
the letters. I realised that children learn much better visually and by being active.
Therefore, I decided to make a colouring book which they could colour
in after being taught a letter by their teachers.

Secondly, I chose to start with something basic, at elementary level, so that

inshallah if they learn this using the visual method, as they go further the basics will
always come in use as they are the most important. If the basics are constantly
in use then inshallah for every letter they will read in the future of the Qur’an
or hadith, hopefully I will be able to have a part of the reward that they gain.
As our Prophet Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬has mentioned in the hadith

‫ﻲ ﺻﻠﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻠﯾﮫ وﺳﻠم ﻗَﺎ َل‬ ِّ ِ‫ﻋ ِن اﻟﻧﱠﺑ‬ َ ‫ﻋﺛْ َﻣﺎنَ ـ رﺿﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻧﮫ ـ‬
ُ ‫ﻋ ْن‬

” ُ‫ﻋﻠ َﻣﮫ‬ ُ ْ ‫ﱠ‬ ْ ُ
َ ‫" َﺧﯾ ُْرﻛ ْم َﻣن ﺗَﻌَﻠ َم اﻟﻘ ْرآنَ َو‬


Uthmaan ‫ر› ال عنه‬
 narated that The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said,
"The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it."
(sahih al Bukhari book of virtues of the Qur’an hadith number 49)

Even though this hadith refers directly to the Teaching of the Qur’an but the means
of being able to read the Qur’an starts from the very basics, and that is the purpose
of this colouring book.

I make dua that Allah ˜‫ سبحانه و تعا‬corrects my intentions, he accepts my minute

effort for his religion and makes this colouring book the means of
students benefiting in their learning. Ameen
