most important points of the story. Give them the chance to work alone to collect
their own thoughts at first, then get them working in groups of 3, then groups of 6 as
a way to share their ideas or come up with new ones. It is smart to get the groups to
write their ideas on chart paper as they form their new groups. This strategy puts
students in charge of their learning and helps students learn how to work individually
and in groups. It keeps students responsible for their learning and makes them
actively engaged.
