ABSTRACT
The students can't seem to master the skills of understanding, reading, and writing
the notes on the scale at the correct positions. This weakness causes an less
efficient process of teaching and learning. The reason behind this research is to
strengthen the skills of the students in the understanding, reading and writing of
notes on the scales in correct positions. Hence, this research was carried out among
the students as the correct positioning of notes on the scales is a very important
thing to learn. The technique used in this research was the learning of notes using
the "traffic light" method. The outcome of this research was successfully extracted by
means of a test after interventions, observations and surveys and the findings
showed that as much as 18 students were able to achieve the objective set which
was to understand, read, and write the notes correctly on the scale, where else there
were only two students who were not able to master the objective set. As a
conclusion, what we learned from this research is that the students were able to
master the skills or understanding, reading and writing notes correctly on the scales
by the usage of the 'traffic light' method. The implication of this research is that music
teachers facing the same problem can carry on this research too given the
background of the respondents are similar to the background of the respondents in
this research.
