To Ms. Siana Hunt,

My name is Hannah Nicole Carnes, and I am contacting you in regards to the Office Manager position posted on
your website.
Over the last eight years, I have volunteered in a variety of capacities with the Hawaii Meth Project, the American
Cancer Society, and most recently, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. From a young age, I have had a
passion for serving my community and am continually strive to find new and innovative ways to make a difference.
These various volunteer opportunities have pushed me outside of my comfort zone and have built me into the leader
that I am today.
I am currently interning in the Development department of your organization, assisting in preparations for the Wish!
In the Wild West gala. The ability to be a part of the planning process for this event and learn how to communicate
effectively both internally and externally on behalf of Make-A-Wish Hawaii has given me the confidence to apply
for this position.

I am completing my Bachelors Degree in Communications, with a focus in Public Relations at the University of
Hawai’i at Manoa, and obtain my degree in May of this year.
In my sophomore year, I accepted a Resident Assistant (RA) position with the University of Hawai’i at Manoa –
Student Housing Services department. The RA position taught me that I am capable of handling a wide variety of
diverse situations, people and communities. Over the past 2.5 years serving in this role, I have had the opportunity to
practice my professional, management, administrative, teaching, time management, and community building skills
through hands on experience working in small and large teams, and mentoring new hires and first year residents.
The RA position has given me the confidence to take charge and ensure that the job gets done.
You’re looking for a candidate who is a fast learner and has had experience in both Communications and the non-
profit sector. My love for Hawai’i and my desire to better my community, along with your organization’s dedication
to the keiki of Hawai’i are why I have chosen to apply for the Office Manager position. Additionally, my experience
this semester as a Gala intern has allowed me to learn about the office functions, and I am confident that, if given the
opportunity, I would be a valuable asset to your organization.

Sincerely,

Hannah Nicole Carnes
