I’m not prepared because of the three subjects for the whole
week like I was in Grade l and ll so for that week I need to prepare
12 lesson plan and three summative tests. It makes me feel tired
but it’s my responsibility and duty as student teacher so I need to
done it before the day of discussion or summative test day.

Routines

These are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate teaching and
learning. Routines do not just make your life easier, they save valuable
classroom time. What’s more important is efficient routines make it easier for
students to learn and achieve more. When routines and procedures are carefully
taught, modeled and established in the classroom, children know what is
expected of them and how to do certain things on their own. Having these
predictable patterns in place allows teachers to spend more time in meaningful
instruction.

My Analysis

Establishing classroom routines is important because:

 When routines and procedures are carefully taught, modeled, and

established in the classroom, children know what’s expected of them and
how to do certain things on their own.
 Having these predictable patterns in place allows teachers to spend more
time in meaningful instruction.
 It is the key to a well-managed organized classroom.
 By implementing classroom routines and procedures, students will
understand what is expected of them throughout the day.
 Once these are established, the number of behavior problems and
classroom interruptions will be greatly reduced.

My Reflections / My Insights

If I already have my own class. I want to do the following:

 Arriving in the morning

As children start trickling into the classroom, they need to know
exactly what to do. Where should they put their bags? Where
do their coats and other materials belong? What should they do
while they wait for the rest of the class to arrive? When does
class actually start? When kids know the answers to these
questions, they can move smoothly through the morning routine
and get straight into learning.

 Taking attendance

After the bustle of putting of bags, coats, and homework, it’s time now to check
their attendance.
 Posting reminders

Posting or discussing the reminders help students to be aware of any

important matters that involves them as well as their parents.

 Throughout the day

Students move through many activities during the course of a typical day, from
whole-group lessons to small-group work, from reading time to math time, from in-
class work to specials outside the classroom. It’s important to plan for these in-
between times just as carefully as you plan your lessons. With predictable routines
in place, students can move smoothly from one activity to the next without losing
learning time.

 Ending the day

Just as a morning routine helps set the tone for the rest of the day, an end-of-the-day
routine helps children become responsible of their assigned task. To do their task
properly I should manage them and see to it that they are doing the task correctly.
After cleaning the room they gather their belongings, including homework. So before
living the classroom I must ensure that the room is ready for next day as well as the
electric appliances is already unplug.
My Application (From Theory to Practice)

Read the situations and encircle the letter of the correct answer.

1. Why do we need to establish classroom routines?

I. To improve classroom management

II. To enhance classroom instruction
III. To save valuable time
A. I only
B. I and II
C. II and III
D. I, II and III

2. When do you establish classroom routines?

A. at the middle of the year

B. At the end of the year
C. At the beginning of the year
D. Anytime the teacher deems proper

3. When students come in the morning, what routines may be employed?

A. Stay along the corridor and wait for their classmates.

B. Assign a leader to come early and check the attendance
