WOMEN IN CYBER WORLD: THREATS AND VIOLENCE

Advancement in technology has been one of the greatest development done in the history of
mankind. People can now easily connect with each other in just one click. But every coin has two
aspects and hence this “Cyber World” is now becoming a threat to society. Mostly, cyber crimes
take place against women who can be easily exploited. Due to lack of evidences and fear of
defamation, identifying criminal becomes very hard. Thus crimes like cyber defamation, sexual
harassment and abuse, pornography, email-misrepresentation, cyber stalking, morphing etc. have
been the burning issues in recent times. Women receive sexual, defamatory and disturbing
messages from anonymous mails and phone numbers which may be the result of their harassment
and can disrobe them before society at large. Even the actresses and famous personalities are the
victim of this venomonous disease. Cyber-crime is emerging as a challenge for national and
economic security.Through this research paper the researcher will try to bring out various means
that are prevalant in the society as evils for women in cyber world and would also deeply analyse
the quantum of punishment that is there for these offences. Finally the researcher would also
suggest various implementations in the laws and would try to bring in new ways to combat this
social evil happening against women.
