Online Activity Describe This type of asynchronous class requires that the students watch
what the learning activity will be as
the students meet with the teacher
a pre-view video of the assignment before they start it
online. What will the students and themselves. So, I will have a recorded video of myself going
the teacher be doing? (This includes
what they are doing with the through the simulation and a voice recording explaining the
technology). steps as I go through them. I also provided pictures through the
lesson if there is any confusion as the simulation may be harder
for students. The students will go to the site at their
convenience this week with a parent or at home tutor present.

The students will go to the link provided.

The students will be learning about a type of motion called
projectile motion.
Then they will click straight on the simulation, there will be a
play button right in the middle of the picture of the simulation.
Pedagogy

When you click on it, it should load within seconds, if it does not
students should contact me right away. The first screen will
show 4 sections, with INTRO highlighted.
The students should continue by clicking on the INTRO button.
The screen will then look like this….

The students will click on the box that is at the top right that
shows a blue table and move it anywhere they want for now.

This will show the time, range and height of the object being
thrown.
Students can keep in mind that they may change the object in
the top right corner it’s default is set at pumpkin.
Next the student will click on the cannon and move it around to
find where they think it should be facing so that the object hits
the target.
The student may move….
-the speed button that is right below the cannon
-the cannon it self
-the normal and slow button on the bottom by the speed
button.
-the stand that the cannon is on
-the target

When the student believes that they have put the cannon in the
right spot they shot them fire the cannon.
To do so click on the button that looks like this…
After you have click this button
and the object does not hit the target (and you will know
because stars will pop up off of the target) please try and move
the cannon and other objects around until you hit the target.

Once the target has been hit we are now going to take the blue
table with the time, range and height and place it on the peak of
the line drawn for the object that did hit the target.
So it will look like this…

The student will then record..

-the object thrown
-the time, range, and height
-the angle of the cannon ( shown here is 70 degrees)
-the speed
-where the target is (shown here is 15.0m)

The student will then move the blue box down to where the
object hit the target and also record the time, range and height
it was when it hit the target.

If the student wishes for extra credit they may then click on the
button at the bottom of the page that says lab and do the same
thing however, they will be also finding out the mass, gravity the
object had on it when fired from the cannon.
This section may require extra help from a parent or at home
tutor.

At the end the parents should make sure a word document of

the recorded items and a screen shot the of the final outcome of
the cannon is emailed by the end of the week. (the final
outcome picture should look like the final picture provided in
this lesson plan). A recording or a word document of what they
think they learned should also be attached to the email.

At the end of this assignment students should have learned

what projectile motion is, and how to proper apply it to
something. They should also understand the speed FORCE of the
cannon is what allowed the object to be placed into motion. This
project should take no more than one hour and parents or
tutors should make sure they are monitoring their student or
child the entire time they are using the computer.
