Controversial Issues Facing the World Today

Introduction

One of the most beautiful, considered planet in the universe today is planet Earth; it has enough

water and vegetation that can support life. Regrettably, the current world is suffering from many

problems which have aroused from the man; this needs to be solved before it is too late to

mitigate, as they are likely to bring many disasters which are human unfriendly. From my

research, I found that the biggest problems that we are facing today are the high population

growth rate, which has caused the depletion of natural resources; high levels of pollution, and

global health crisis.

Critical and Important Issues

One of the most critical challenges facing the globe today is the rapid population growth rate;

this began several thousand years ago when human being started to settle down and started

farming. This has brought the surge of producing more food, as people were able to cultivate

enough to feed their families. Because of this, they began to produce larger and larger families,

as they had enough food, but they also needed more people to work on their farms. In the recent

studies, the world population is proved to be about 7 billion, and in some few years to come, it is

estimated to be about 12 billion. Because of this, we need more food to sustain the population.

The world can support about 2 billion people only; this excess has brought some complications,

which have caused food insecurity (Foundation, 1998).

Due to the increase in population, countries need to build more schools to educate their

children, have more hospitals to take care of their citizens and have enough food in their stores to

feed this generation. More water is needed to cater for their basic needs, like drinking, and to

help in agriculture to feed this large population. Therefore, because of this, countries need to

educate their citizens on the importance of controlling the high birth rate; this will help them get

children who can be catered well for. Small families are easy to raise and take care of, rather than

big families that experience many problems like hunger and diseases.

Pollution is another big challenge the world is facing today, as we have water, soil and air

pollution. Pollution of water is done from the disposal of untreated sewage from big industries

and the artificial fertilizers or chemical we are using on our farms that are swept into rivers by

rains. This has resulted in some respiratory tract infections, which are the leading causes of

diseases, mostly in developing countries. Companies should treat their sewage waters before

releasing them into rivers; they should also recycle it to avoid wastages. Farmers are advised to

use natural fertilizers and chemicals to boost their farming, as they are environmentally friendly

(B R Gurjar, 2010).

Air pollution is the result of smoke that is emitted from the running engines and dust.

This has the major impact on the air we breathe, as polluted air has significant problems to the

human respiratory system, and this has caused some serious health problems to people. Smoke is

being released from big industries which are untreated. Precipitators must purify it before being

set into the environment. Soil pollution has also been another big issue of contamination, careless

dumping and the use of artificial fertilizers. The land has been made unproductive due to this

challenge, and people are being advised to ensure proper dumping of waste disposal, and use

natural farming methods to reduce the impact.

Global health crisis issues, which have been relevant to any citizens, HIV/AIDS, cancer,

and diabetes, are the leading causes of death in the world today. Despite the world's effort in

responding to this critical global health crisis, the problem remains unsolved, making the entire

world vulnerable to this health crisis. The poor have continued to suffer because of the high cost

of medication and treatment. Countries should help citizens to manage this condition and even

educate well their people on how to avoid various diseases.

On the issues of space science on Earth, people may have thought of the universe being a

component of assemblies, earths, and the stars. Nonetheless, the universe majority components

consist of constituents that cannot be seen or felt. These substances are mainly the “dark matter.”

Fritz Zwicky thought of this concept in the 1930s. Researchers are uncertain of what dark matter

is, but they do possess a clue of it, since they know of its existence through its effects on the

normal substance through the gravity. A lot of philosophies exist that try to explain the structure

and presence of dark matter, which demonstrate its presence and its tenacity of holding the whole

world together. Majority of the universe is made up of dark matter. It is made up of bizarre

elements and is impotent to be grasped, since it does not discharge the light. Particles, bits, and

subatomic elements are the dark matter. It is well-known that dark matter is a collection of

baryons. Scientists approximate its existence centered on its effects on gravity on ordinary

substance and by x-rays discharged by sizzling dark matter.

Conclusion

My research has found that the major issues facing the globe today are high population growth

rate, pollution, and an epidemic of illnesses. Like the world, we should, therefore, focus on

strategies which will be aimed at mitigating this challenges before they escalate into disasters.

We can educate people on the importance of having few children, which are well catered for and

have laws, regulating companies from the high rates of pollution. The world will be a better

place few years to come if only we could work together and conquer these issues early enough

(Michael P Murtaugh, 2017).
