PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently,
especially Frank Walker.

PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek God’s
healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home”. We pray especially for Kay Kasaboski
and Gladys McNulty. May your struggle be consoled by Christ’s love“.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
As we begin a new fall season we seek God’s blessing on families, school children and teachers.
Entering into the newness of the school year may God fulfill hopes and bring safety to the journey.
We here at St. Francis Xavier Parish now embark on the journey with you. In a few weeks, we will
begin our “On Our Way with Jesus” program of Sacramental Preparation. As well, Bishop Mulhall
will be with us to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation in November.
Consequently, our preparation for the sacrament will soon begin. May this be a re-awakening of
our Baptismal commitment to build the faith experience of our young people.

PERU MISSION: You may have noticed the lovely tablecloths from Peru at the entrances of
the church. Father Proulx has graciously donated them for a fundraiser where the proceeds
will go to the Mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Chincha Alta, Peru. We will soon be
selling tickets for this worthy cause before and after Mass.

BISHOP’S COLLECTION FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CANADIAN CHURCH:

The annual Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be held in most parishes in Canada
next weekend. The monies raised will be sent to our diocese, which will use these revenues to help pay
its annual contribution to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). Through the
work of the Bishops of Canada who are its members, the Conference is involved in national and
international areas of pastoral activity, including social justice, ecumenical and interfaith relations,
collaboration with Aborignal Peoples, life and family issues, liturgy, catechesis, doctrine and relations
with Catholic associations and movements. It also provides the Bishops a forum to share their
experiences and insights on the life of the Church and major events that shape our society.
The offices of the CCCB are located at 2500 Don Reid Drive, in Ottawa, where a staff of approxi-
mately 40 works in different services, supporting the pastoral work of the Bishops nationally and
internationally.
ST FRANCIS XAVIER BOOK CLUB: will soon meet. The Book Club is a relaxed get-together of
people who read a common book exploring popular and relevant writings of faith issues pertinent
to our Catholic experience. This is an open invitation to anyone who is interested in participation.
Please watch the bulletin for upcoming info on our next book title and meeting.
