UNIT OBJECTIVE: Still will listen to dynamic changes as well as demonstrate their ability to perform dynamic changes on a
non-pitched instrument.
ACTIVITIES
TW talk about performance and how sometimes we needed you to be louder. Those are called dynamics. Explain we are going
to work on understanding the symbols. Show all the symbols then have students listen to the New World Symphony.
LESSON DESIGN
SW start to raise their hands when they think the dynamic is getting louder.
SW then play the drums and get louder or softer with my hand direction.
TW then explain more symbols pianissimo, piano, mezzo piano, mezzo forte, forte, and fortissimo.

TW review dynamics with the students. Show symbols on the PowerPoint and review by teacher playing on a drum or violin

SW may pick on non-pitched percussion instrument to play the tempo changes on.
MATERIALS: computer, projector, speaker, PowerPoint, violin or drum, non-pitched percussion instruments.

ACTIVITIES
SW receive white boards, pencils and assessment and find spots to sit away from people in the classroom.
LESSON DESIGN
TW play dynamic changes on violin allowing students time to answer questions on the assessment.
SW then complete dabber activities for the rest of class. Tell students which one is graded!!
If time at end of class students will sing Don Gato again or play dynamic changes on drums.
MATERIALS: computer, projector, speaker, PowerPoint, violin, drum, dabbers, assessments, and dabber worksheets.
