Written Report on Market Testing conducted last February 28, 2018

JOYLINE’S DURIAN SPREAD is the agribusiness product that was used during
the market test in different categories of customer present in USM. The market test was
done by letting 20 respondents taste the sandwich with the durian spread on it and
interviewed afterwards. The test was participated by 11 college instructors from CBDEM
and CAS, 8 random students and 1 tricycle driver. Of these respondents, 12 are female
and 8 are male. The age is ranging from 18 to 52 years old. Most of the respondents
are 18-25 years old which comprises 10 out of 20.

The respondent’s address were mostly in Kabacan only but we also interviewed
individuals from Makilala, Kidapawan, Mlang, Matalam and Carmen.

Majority of the respondents are not yet aware of the product and haven’t taste
the product before. Only 3 persons knew and tasted/consumed similar product before
and have bought it in Polomolok, Tupi and in malls too.

All respondents are willing to buy the product except two respondents who said
no for reasons we weren’t able to know. In the frequency of buying the product, once a
week was the one they mostly answered. There were 4 who answered once a month
and 2 who answered 3 times a month.

The price range was Php. 20.00 to Php. 130.00 and the average was Php.67.61
only. Implied in the results was that the college instructors priced the product higher
than the students maybe this is because of the income stability.

On the sample product’s labeling and packaging many ideas were suggested by
the respondents. These includes that the ingredients, nutritional facts, manufacturing
date and place and expiration date should be found in the jar’s label. Also, the color of
the labeling material should be changed based on the Psychology of color to attract
customers and even children. Another person suggested that the name should be
Durian Sandwich Spread; one also said that it must be Durian Nutritious Spread instead
of just Durian Spread. One respondent stated that the Durian’s image on the label must
be colorful and the font size should be uniform.

Product improvement section also gains many suggestions. One of these was
that the spread’s texture should be improved into a finer one. Also, a small amount of
sugar must be added and another said that there should be a spice added for a twist.
One respondent commented that the color of the spread should be lighter than
presented. Lastly, we were told to find ways to minimize the cost of the packaging
materials specially the jar and the sticker. There is still room for improvements but
despite the comments, most of the respondents said that the product taste good and its
yummy and delicious.
