Dear Reader,

We are pleased to announce the release of

IET600 Ver. 5.2. IET600 is the latest member of
the ABB Substation Automation Products tool
family. It provides full-fledged engineering
functionalities for system integration of an
IEC 61850 based substation automation
system.

IET600 - Introduction
IET600 allows system engineers and integrators to define and configure the complete substation
automation system according to IEC 61850. It features powerful graphical interfaces to design
the substation topology, manage the communication between all IEC 61850-compliant IEDs in
the substation and generate a complete description of the substation in an SCD file.

Centralized support for maintenance of substation signals for ABB’s MicroSCADA Pro platform
ensures that data consistency is assured throughout the lifecycle of the substation. The modern
and intuitive user interface allows engineers to easily navigate through large amounts of data to
find exactly what they need.

Technical requirements on environment

Hardware and software requirements:

The supported operating systems and hardware requirements are described in the IET600
manual.

Ordering and delivery information

The IET600 can be ordered from Substation Automation Products, Västerås, Sweden.
The delivery will include a transparent case with the DVD and the USB hardware license key.

Different to the previous IET600 Ver.5.1 delivered in the package of PCM600 Engineering Pro
Ver. 2.4, IET600 Ver.5.2 requires a USB hardware license key to function. The key must be
plugged-in the PC during start-up and runtime of the tool.

Manuals and other documents are included on the CD.

Installation

IET600 needs some additional software components (these are contained in the IET
Prerequisites package) delivered on the CD:
Windows Installer 4.5
NET Framework 4.0
SQL Server 2008 SP1 (requires Service Pack 3 on Windows XP)

The IET600 Prerequisites must be installed once before the first time the installation of IET600.
The installation of IET600 Ver. 5.2 gets started by running the installation program (“ABB IET600
Setup.exe”). For more details please read the IET600 User Manual.

IET600 can be installed on multiple PC but only used once at a time where the USB hardware
key is plugged in during start-up and runtime of the program.

Release Note

Life cycle statement

IET600 Ver. 5.2 is a new stand-alone product. A previous version of IET600 (Ver. 5.1) which is
currently included in PCM600 Engineering Pro Ver.2.4 will follow the life cycle policy of PCM600
Engineering Pro.

We recommend updating existing IET600 Ver. 5.1 installations to the version 5.2.
The upgrade of PCM600 Engineering Pro Ver.2.4 to IET600 Ver.5.2 can be requested from ABB
Substation Automation Products, Västerås, Sweden (sa-t.sales@se.abb.com).

IET600 Ver. 5.2 will not work with a license key for IET600 Ver. 5.1.

IET600 automatically migrates engineered projects and data created with earlier versions of
IET600, to the latest version and therefore ensures full backwards compatibility.

Known limitations

USB hardware license key must be plugged-in during start-up of the tool else some
unwanted behavior from the license manager may occur.
SSD files are not supported
