time, space, and accessible resources to actively explore her surroundings. All the other children had gone outside for a run so she had the whole classroom to herself to explore.
Faatimah first noticed the baby pram which had a
costume inside. She was intrigued by the shiny colors of the costume and for good 10 minutes she played with it. Faatimah would take the dress out, stand up then sit and put the dress back inside. Once in a while she would call out to me to share what she was doing and to mak sure I was watching her.
Later on she began to push the trolley and set off to
explore the rest of the classroom.
Faatimah was actively exploring her surroundings, she
was sharing her ideas and thoughts with me in her own language. Faatimah was also developing working theories and challenging herself.
It was lovely to see Faatimah exploring her surroundings
comfortably and confidently. It is clear that she has developed a sense of belonging to An-Nur and caring relationships with us. Insha allah, I will continue to provide Faatimah more one on one as well as space to explore and set her own challenges and learning opportunities.
