ACADEMIC PLAN OF STUDY

An academic plan of study provides you with a roadmap to help you to reach your destination—graduation—in a
timely manner with few detours.

Before you get started with your plan of study, answer the following questions:

1. Are you satisfied with your major choice? Does it fit your interests, values, and goals? Your results from the My Plan
as well as your academic advisor can help you with this.
2. Will you pursue a minor? If so, what? Eighteen hours are required to complete a minor. Visit the following web
page to view your options: http://www.ncat.edu/academics/majors-minors/. It is a good idea to start taking minor
courses during your sophomore year.
3. Do you plan to study abroad? The Office of International Programs (OIP) provides opportunities for NCA&T
students to spend a semester, summer, or academic year studying in another country. Visit the following link for
more information: http://www.ncat.edu/academics/oip/NCAT%20Students.html

Before you begin drafting your plan, please do the following:

1. Obtain a copy of the curriculum guide for your major or intended major from the department’s web
page: http://www.ncat.edu/academics/colleges-departments/index.html .
2. Obtain a copy of the General Education Course List:
http://www.ncat.edu/provost/general_education_resources/general_education_course_list/
3. Identify and type the courses you will register for each semester in the designated areas.
4. List the credit hours for each course in the designated areas.
5. Save and submit in Blackboard
