MOTIVATOR
The Tactical Unattended Ground Sensor (T-UGS) provides the operator the means to assess the
battlefield situation and provide planning actions to assist in the early warning detection. T-UGS provides
forewarning of impending enemy movement by early notification of threats on the battlefield. This lesson
will give you the operator the knowledge to properly Prepare the T-UGS for operations.

TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE (TLO) PREPARE T-UGS FOR OPERATIONS

At the completion of this lesson, you (the student) will:

ACTION Prepare T-UGS for Operations.

CONDITIONS In a classroom/field environment utilizing the T-UGS IMI, SKL, a complete T-UGS
set, a completed T-UGS emplacement worksheet, student guide, job aid, and
checklist
STANDARDS Achieve a minimum score of 80% on the written test, and receive all Go’s on all
lesson Practical Exercises and the end of course Practical Exercise

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Adhere to all warnings and cautions in the technical manuals to prevent injury to personnel and/or
damage to equipment. Use caution when in or near vehicles.

RISK ASSESSMENT LEVEL: Low

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
It is the responsibility of all Soldiers, Contractors and DA civilians to protect the environment from
damage.

EVALUATION
Each Soldier will be given a written test and a performance evaluation on the proper operation of the
Tactical Unattended Ground Sensor (T-UGS). Must achieve a minimum of 80% to pass the written test.
The performance evaluation will be a GO/NO GO

INSTRUCTIONAL LEAD-IN
Technology is providing new and better ways to gather information for situational understanding and
improve force protection. For this to be of any value to Soldiers and their commander, Soldier’s must be
able to operate the equipment in a timely and accurate manner to get information to leader’s in order for
them to make good and sound decisions.
