Influenza

Influenza is a viral infection. It works on the respiratory system, and may

be of varying severity - from mild to severe, and sometimes even death.

Influenza is caused by influenza virus. Every winter, viruses spread around

the world. Strain, usually, varies from year to year. Although it is sometimes
possible to get flu at the end of the season. Influenza is caused by three types of
viruses - influenza A, B, and C. Type A causes a deadly flu pandemic (epidemic in
the hemisphere) that strikes every 10 to 40 years. Type B causes a pandemic with
a smaller scale. Type A or B can cause flu circulation every winter. Type C has
never been associated with a major epidemic.
Type C is quite stable, but types A and B are constantly changing and bring new
concerns to society on a regular basis. Once you get the flu, the antibodies that are
formed will suppress the cause, but will not protect you from mutated viruses.
That's why doctors recommend flu shots every year.

Spread of influenza from the carrier can start the day before the onset of
symptoms, and five (sometimes more) days after the onset of the disease. So the
patient to become an influenza seller is often unaware of it.
Symptoms usually begin suddenly. They may include High fever and
chills,Muscle ache,Severe fatigue,Headache,Loss of appetite or other
gastrointestinal symptoms, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea (more common in
children, than adults),Cold, stuffy nose,Sneezing,Lacrimation, conjunctivitis,Sore
throat,Cough (This can last for two weeks or more),Swollen lymph nodes in the
neck.
The risk of influenza increases or can be complicated if you:
• Baby or children
• Aged more than 50 years
• Have a chronic disease, such as diabetes or janung disease.
• Have a weak immune system, such as HIV AIDS.
• Pregnant when going to flu season
• Residents in the care center.
• Working in care center.
• Regularly close contact with infants or children.
Children who take aspirin for a long time can also increase the risk with greater.
Flu vaccine is safe for children 6 months or older. If your child is not at risk but
living with the person at risk, you still need to give the vaccine to your child. This
will reduce your child's risk of becoming infected. More people are immunized,
less flu will spread to a community.

Basically the main influenza treatment is to rest and lie in bed, drink plenty
of water and avoid fatigue, ranging from symptoms to 24-48 after body
temperature returns to normal while for severe illness but not accompanied by
complications, may be given acetaminophen, aspirin or naproxen. But for children
should not be given aspirin because of the risk of reye syndrom. Other drugs that
can be given are nasal decongestan and inhalation of steam. For more severe
symptoms can use drugs that must necessarily match with the doctors
instructioons.

Prevention influenza Use flu vaccination regularly every year. The right
time for vaccination is the time before the peak of the flu season. It takes two
weeks for the body to build the body's immune system from vaccines, Washing
hands. Hand washing is the best way to prevent ordinary flu infections, Eat
properly and sleep regularly, Exercise regularly and Regular cardiovascular
training - walking, cycling, aerobics - improves the immune system.
