a) State and explain Kirchhoff’s Laws.
b) What are self-inductance and mutual inductance?
c) Define Peak factor and Form factor.
d) Explain the concept of power factor, real and reactive power.
e) Define compensation theorem.
f) State Norton’s theorem.
g) Represent a Two Port Network in T and π sections.
h) Define z-parameters.
i) Distinguish between dependent and Independent Energy Sources.
j) In two port network, what are called input and output driving point Impedances?

UNIT - I
2) Using node analysis, find the current flowing through the resistors

3) A mild steel ring of circumference 50 cm and cross sectional area of 5 cm2 has a coil of 250
turns wound around it. Calculate: (a) The reluctance. (b) The current required to produce a flux of
700 mWb. The relative permeability µr=380.

4) a) Calculate the reactance of a 2μF capacitor at: (i) 50 Hz. (ii) 2.5 kHz. (iii) 1.5 MHz.

b) In a series parallel circuit, the two parallel branches A and B are in series with C. The
impedances are Za= 10 + j8, Zb= 9 – j6 and Zc = 3 + j2 Ω voltage across Zc = 100+ j0 V. Find the
branch currents and phase angles.

5) Determine the total current, power factor and power consumed by the circuit shown in figure
below.

6) Find the current through 2 ohms resistor in the network shown below by Thevenin’s and Norton’s
equivalents.

(a) The value of load resistance to give maximum power transfer.
(b) The power delivered to the load.

8) In the network shown in figure below, what load ZL will receive maximum power.
