HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
SESSION 2017-18
CLASS 1

Hello kids,
It’s time for mangoes, watermelons, ice creams, lemonades and lots and lots of fun!
Summer vacations is a welcome break from fixed schedules, rules and regulations.
Visiting Nani house, Dadi house, picnics, exploring new places and watching your
favourite shows on television. But there is a lot more you can do to make your holidays
more interesting and meaningful along with doing your masti. Your teachers have
planned some interesting activities for you.
So, don’t sleep till late in the morning. Try getting up early and go for a morning walk
with your parents, breathe fresh air and avoid playing out in sun.

Make a decorative paper bag/folder to keep all your holiday homework.


Father’s Day is on the third Sunday of June. So pamper your dad. Make him feel special
in every small way. Surprise him by giving him a card.
Theme- INDIA RISING

Research Work
• Find out the number of states in India and try to learn their names.
• Find out the number of languages spoken in India.
• List out the names of cities that you have visited in India.
• Play the game ‘ATLAS’ with your family and friends restricting it to states and
cities of India only.
• Make a scrapbook. Paste pictures of eminent Indians who have excelled in
different fields in the recent past.
• Collect pictures/news items/articles related to Swachh Bharat Campaign and
make a collage on a chart paper.

English
• Read and enjoy following stories:
1. Jack and the bean stalk
2. The Elves and the shoe maker
• Make a “Vocabulary Hanging” from the stories you have read. Your hanging
should have at least 10 words from the story books with their opposite and a rhyming
word. Use your own imagination and creativity to design your vocabulary hanging. It
should be colourful and impressive.
• Practice cursive handwriting every day.
• Revise all the work done till date.
Maths
1. Revise your number names in a fun manner. Do it on a A-3 sheet. You can take
the details of your family members, relatives or friends to make this table.
Write the name, age in figures and then the number name. Write at least 10
names. For e.g.
FAMILY MEMBER AGE ( IN FIGURES) NUMBER NAME
Father 32 Thirty two

2. Practice Forward/ Back counting. (1-100/ 100-1)


3. Practice ‘what comes after’, ‘before’ and ‘in between’. (1-100)
