African Americans are viewed negatively in the public eye by millions of people. African

Americans are viewed negatively by the entertainment world and mass media. I’m writing this

paper, so the reader will be intrigued by the idea of knowing how African Americans are being

treated in today’s society. The idea of knowing about Afro-Americans in the public eye will be a

learning lesson. Music and the image African Americans have been viewed negatively by their

actions. Rappers such as Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne have ruined the lifestyle of young African

Americans.African Americans are viewed negatively in the public eye by Digital Media, Reality

Television, and music.

Caucasians have thought that for years that Afro-American have ruined the American

society(Smith). Afro-Americans for many years have been in distress for many years about

everything that basically related to violence in the world. African Americans have not treated

properly in the entertainment world as well as the world in general(Govenar 26).

Afro-Americans are accused of ruining the government, teenage minds, and communities.

President Obama has done such a poor job as president, you won’t see another black president

for generations (Blake 35). Black culture has a negative force that operates in America today

(Blake 56).African Americans have yet to ruin the country that was built by African Americans.
Bonds 2

Music is an important way of how African Americans are viewed negatively in the public eye.

There are cutting edge things happening in the music industry. Rappers are starting Black Death

and dysfunction in the society(Darron). Rappers are harshly criticized in the society. Rappers

glorify crime, sex, and violence in their lyrics(Darron). There’s margination from music(Desalu).

Rappers are harshly criticized for running the next generation. Rap ruined black entertainment.

Black Rappers are criminalizing a billion dollar industry Writers attack radio companies and

radio stations(Darron). There is Black Death and dysfunction due to rappers. Listeners praise

rappers for the worst lyrics of their songs. There is media activism for rappers. The industry for

rappers is an outspoken industry. It’s an outspoken industry because rappers don’t feel as if they

there lyrics are important to the next generation. African Americans are often considered as

Negros in the entertainment world.

Black people are criminalized in the entertainment world. Due to the criminalization of the

entertainment world, we started black dysfunction in the world(Darron). Rappers say for their

carrier in the music industry. To some people, rappers are the number one cause of a teenager’s

life. Black media has started the private prison industrial complex. Most of the rapper's lyrics

ruined teenager’s life(Elkouby). Music is an important factor in a teenager’s life. The

entertainment market lacks diversity(Horton). African American males have it better in the

entertainment world(Nathans). Black women do much better than black men in the film

industry(Desalu). Black men have a better time in the TV industry. The entertainment world was

a way out of trouble for most African Americans(Horton). Denzel Washington had a troubled

life until he began acting(Darron). Ruby Dee was one of the greatest actresses that always knew

that she wanted to be an actress before anything(Briscoe). African Americans have been accused
Bonds 3

of ruining the government. The billionaire Donald Trump feel as if President Obama is doing his

best job as president(Franklin). President Obama has done such a poor job as president, you

won’t see another black president for generations(Franklin). Local people have stated that the

country is fractured due to the leadership of African Americans(Franklin).

Citizens of the country also think that President Obama has no control or respect for African

American community. Ted Nugent has a negative opinion towards African Americans running

the government. President Obama has a “racist agenda” for the country (Blake 67). “President

Obama is ruining the government,” says an unknown person in the government (Blake 47). Most

citizens of the country feel as if African Americans have ruined the country(Blake 33). Some

citizens say that African Americans ruined the world because of their stupidity(Blake 56).

“Blacks are stupid at least most of them they don’t even speak English they were better when

they were my slaves,” says a person who feels as if they should not have said (Walker 25).

“Blacks are rude and ignorant and want everything free,” says a person who doesn’t like the fact

that African Americans are good leaders of the world(89). Black culture has ruined the country’s

outcome (33). Black culture has a negative force that operates in America today. African culture

is afflicted by the black plague.

African Americans aren’t even viewed as humans but as things. Some people say you can’t let a

black person in your life. Some citizens that are white say that you can never let a black person

in your life. Black people are inconsiderate savages says a citizen(Horton). Black people also

ruined there higher education. African Americans turn every place into a ghetto says a citizen in

his neighborhood(Horton). The neighbor said that African Americans are a destructive part

towards the environment. Black ruin everything and anything in sight says the article on the
Bonds 4

Huffington post (Smith). Also with ruining the environment they also ruined the responsibility of

gun ownership says the neighbor. African Americans aren’t given credit for the greatness they

have done. Black people have ruined the government says a person of Congress. Black men are

automatically written off as criminals as a representation of the government. Black people also

ruin property values says a person of the neighborhood(Horton).

The excessive celebration rule was enacted because of Negros(Horton). Some people are

disgraced by the fact that you can’t go anywhere where blacks may present without worrying

about the physical attack(Desalu). The Caucasian people of this country feel as if black people

ruined a chance for white people to make their own history. Some people say that African

Americans don’t belong in America. Some citizens say that black people were never needed in

America. Black people had ruined the country many times says many Caucasian people.

Caucasian people think that Ferguson was an example of black people being ignorant and ruining

the world. Black people have also ruined the world says some people and they always wanted to

stop it but never had the power to. Black people have ruined the little communities. Black people

have brought gangs and violence into certain communities. The way black people dress also ruin

the community. Every black person that had to change the world failed. Some citizens feel as if

black leader’s ruined the world. President Obama wasn’t the best president of the country say

some citizens.

Some citizens also complain that black people ruined the economy(Mathis). African Americans

have ruined the economy in the country(Mathis). The number of Americans on welfare has hit

record highs. A record 20% of Americans were on food stamps in 2013(Mathis). African

Americans made a great impact on the country. Food and music changed the country a lot. When
Bonds 5

the slaves were brought to the U.S., African cooking styles also came. In Africa, slaves ate a

large number of greens and vegetables and after being brought to America, slaves often served

these foods to their masters.

African-American food is also called “soul food” and can be found in restaurants and homes

not only across America but internationally as well. While many American regions and cities

have the famous fare, few will argue that the South wears the culinary crown. Southern food

often perceived as the quintessential American cuisine. While Southern food has evolved from

sources and cultures of diverse regions, classes, races, and ethnicities, African and African

American slaves have one of the strongest yet least recognized roles. Music had an even better

impact on the country than food. African Americans have had a notable influence on American

music. Genres including jazz, blues, hip-hop, and gospel were all started by African Americans.

Music genres including rap and hip-hop were started in African-American communities. Their

origins are in musical forms that arose out of the historical condition of slavery that characterized

the lives of black Americans prior to the American Civil War. Black Americans, through

employment as musicians playing European music in military bands, developed a new style of

music called ragtime which gradually evolved into jazz. Many of the characteristic musical

forms that define African-American music have historical precedents. African Americans are

racist as well say other races. A poll released Wednesday by Rasmussen found

African-Americans are more likely to be viewed as racist than whites(Smith). Thirty-seven

percent of poll respondents said, "most black Americans" are racist, compared to just 15 percent

who said most whites are racist and 18 percent who said most Hispanics are racist.
Bonds 6

Black respondents ranked they're own demographic as more likely to be racist. Thirty-one

percent of African Americans said most blacks are racist, according to the polling organization,

while only 24 percent of those respondents said most whites are racist(78). There is a huge

ideological difference on this topic of the racist accusation. Oftentimes the assertiveness of

African-Americans is seen as reverse racism. Eugene Puryear said "a vast majority of blacks are

victimized" by "structurally racist policies. White people do not hold a monopoly on racism.

Prompting blacks far more than whites to frown on one of their own if they associate with the

other race. Black people are tired of not fighting back Black people now talk as much trash as

white people. African-Americans are much more pessimistic than whites are in rating the extent

to which they still face inequality and unfairness in American society. African Americans don’t

even feel like Americans because they are always pushed around. Some African Americans

complain that the world hasn’t changed since Dr. King. Many people have an opinionated way of

seeing how African Americans are viewed. As an Afro-American, I am saddened by how we are

labeled. Afro-Americans are somewhat disgusted with their behavior as well.

African Americans don’t participate in marginalization from music videos and reality TV to

roles on the big screen (Smith). Most black actors feel differently about this statement. Actors

such as Billy Dee Williams, Sidney Poitier, and Morgan Freeman feels as if African Americans

have made the change in the world (Briscoe 18). Other new actors such as Jamie Foxx, Blair

Underwood, and Terrence Howard are waiting to make a great impact on the world (Briscoe 20).

Movies have made a huge impact on changing the world for Afro-Americans. Music is another

way the world has changed it has positive negative impacts, but mostly negative. Rappers such

as Lil Wayne, T.I., and 50 Cent have had hardships, and have overlooked the troubles and
Bonds 7

became multi millionaire moguls in the music industry (Elkouby). New rappers such as Kendrick

Lamar, J Cole, and Wale have already changed the world for African Americans through their

music (Elkouby). All rappers of the 21st century are giving young African American positive

self-expression throughout their music.

African Americans have been blamed for ruining the world for a long time. From slavery,

movements, and harmless African American teenagers. Slavery is what makes “Black people”

what they are today (Williams 18). The movements that somehow changed the world and

Afro-Americans started from 1954 to 1982(79). The movements during this time were the Civil

Rights Movement and The Black Panther Party. The Civil Rights movement and The Black

Panther party helped many people of the world notice how great and powerful Afro-Americans

are. The moments were not always easy, in fact, they were often too dangerous.

Not only were their movements for freedom there were riots for justice. The Baltimore riot is

the most current riot that was started because innocent African American teenagers were being

killed for no reason. Most citizens will say that African Americans have changed the world and

haven’t made any impacts on the world. From food, music, and television there have been many

good and bad impacts. Television shows like Love and Hip Hop, Black Ink Crew, and Basketball

Wives have made a negative impact towards African Americans in the TV world but shows such

as it’s a Mann’s World and T.I. and Tiny Family Hustle gives television a new idea about the

successful black family.

Bonds 8

There are many black television shows that portray a great but bad image on the cable

networks. Many African Americans are judged by the television shows, but the truth isn’t in the

show. As a young Afro-American teenager, I wouldn’t like to be judged by what’s on television,

and not seen in real life. Many find this reality TV shows amusing, but in all reality it’s

embarrassing. Television and music might have the most negative impacts on African

Americans, but there are always people and things that make things for black people better. The

people in the negative reality television shows must be mindful of what decisions are made in

their life.

African Americans have made a lot of contributions to America. Food and Mass media has

made the biggest impact. Even though the impacts could be negative many people have learned

from the wrongdoing of others even African Americans. Writing this paper has made me realize

the importance that Afro-Americans have made towards everybody and everything. Knowing

how important the contribution was great to know. Being an African American is a billion dollar

industry. Everything is revolved around the help of African Americans. Most people think that

black people are criminalized for their crazy actions. The crazy actions include radio stations and

TV networks that profit Black Death and dysfunction for the community.

For the Black Death and dysfunction to stop, rappers such as Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz have to

stop glorifying crime, sex, drugs, and violence as the main topic in their music (Elkouby). Other

rappers such as Kendrick Lamar and Common glorify freedom for their community and a change

in the world. A lot of writers for articles have the music industry blossom from the exploitation

of the vilest and obscene racial stereotypes imaginable and openly accused it of promoting a

covert white supremacist agenda (Elkouby). Many writers think that the generations of bright
Bonds 9

children are being dumbed down for the cause if listening to rap music that glorifies such

negative things. On the other hand, movies are much different. Actors have no negative

outcomes for anything that happens in their lives as Afro-Americans. Actors such as Sidney

Poitier and Morgan Freeman have fought since 1963(63). While Poitier and Freeman were actors

a lot of discrimination happened behind the scenes, and their carrier became even harder to deal

with. Poitier made the best outcome of being an African American actor in the world when he

was the first Afro-American to win an Academy Award and an Oscar for the best Male actor.

Writing this paper has helped realize how important it is to know how people are being judged

bother people just by color. The paper is not only an argumentative essay but an informational

essay about the truth. Instead of just being a color people have to aspire to be greater. This paper

also helped realize that knowing where African American started something so great could

possibly end so horribly. Knowing how rappers and TV personalities make their money is

distasteful. The shows and music need to stop there negative glorification towards the younger

generation.

The representation of music and shows for an Afro-American shows how was easily damaged

the race is. African Americans have been made a joke for a long time, and now it should end.

While writing about this specific topic a topic was being learned. The lesson never took a race as

a joke. I’ve also learned new things about African Americans. The new that was learned is that

Afro-Americans have invented numerous things that have changed the world.
