School shooting have become not only part of our society,


in news and politics; but students are feeling the stresses of
a looming fear. Just recently, a student asked "Ms. Clark do
you think teachers should have guns? And then proceeded
to share how they just hope they will feel safe at school
again. These are the words of students, coming to learning,
and teachers need to be proactive not reactive and teach
students to do the same.

This curriculum unit aims to create a culture of proactive activism and


resilience by diving deep into the social-emotional clues behind identifying
campus concerns and encourage today's activism to become tomorrow's
history. The history is often read - "17 students killed in school shooting,"
yet this emotion evoking headline only leaves the society in despair.
Students entering the classroom every day must respond with resilience
and be proactive in hopes of never having to be reactive. 
AUDIENCE 
This curriculum is designed for
9-10th grade students; however,
adaptions can be made for
middle school students. 

TIME 
8-10 55 minute periods
