KORELASI GAMBARAN PERLEMAKAN HATI PADA USG DENGAN

INDEKS MASSA TUBUH, KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL SERUM DAN
KADAR TRIGLISERIDA SERUM (STUDI DI RSUD. DR. SOETOMO
SURABAYA)
Abstrak :

Background: There is an increased incidence of fatty liver, which is parallel with the prevalence of obesity
and metabolic syndrome. Ultrasound is a diagnostic modality that is economic, non-invasive, with has high
sensitivity and specificity in detecting fatty liver. Body mass index (BMI) is one predictor of obesity.
Hyperlipidemia is a part of the metabolic syndrome, characterized by abnormal level of cholesterol or
triglyceride.

Objective: Determine the correlation between ultrasound findings in fatty liver with BMI value, and
level of total cholesterol and triglyceride.

Material and methods: This is a cross sectional descriptive study, at the Radiology departement,
GDC. RSUD. DR. Soetomo Surabaya, January-April 2011. The samples are patients with ultrasound
finding fatty liver (+), which meet the criteria for inclusion and exclusion.

Results: 76 samples of fatty liver (ultrasound). Mild fatty liver: normal and mild obese patients (BMI) are
10.5% and 15.8%, and tends to fall on the severe fatty liver. Severe fatty liver : the highest frequency in the
severe obese is 21.1%. Test statistic : value 0.00 (P <0.05), correlation 0.402. Mild fatty liver : samples
with both normal and borderline levels of total cholesterol is @ 11.9%. Severe fatty liver : samples with
normal, borderline, and high level of total cholesterol are 7.1%, 11.9% and 14.3%. Severe fatty liver :
samples with both borderline and high levels of total cholesterol is @ 16.7%. Test statistic: value 0.067 (P
<0.05), correlation 0.286. Mild fatty liver : samples with normal, borderline, high levels of triglycerides
are 15.2%, 6.1%; 15%. Mild fatty liver : samples with normal, borderline, high triglyceride level are
18.2%, 15.2%; 0%. Severe fatty liver : samples with normal, borderline, high triglyceride level are 6.1%,
3%, 21.2%. Test statistic: 0.266 (P> 0.05), correlation 0.199.

Conclusion: fatty liver by USG : has a correlation with BMI, has no correlation with total cholesterol level
but not significant, has no correlation with triglyceride level but more severe fatty liver by ultrasound
found in high triglyceride level.
