MICROCODE VERSION 065B/M & 165B/M

RELEASED 2/21/2006

Newly supported features and functions for Version 065B/M & 165B/M
NONE

Improvements for Version 065B/M & 165B/M

1) Support for Online ENC firmware download function for RKAJ unit.
Item Description
Contents Support for Online ENC firmware download function for RKAJ unit.

2) Improvement to Switch Check identification for the RKAJ unit.

Item Description
Contents The microcode has an improvement to the “subsystem identification switch” check for RKAJ. If
the switch is set to S, when attached to the 9500, the following web message is displayed.
Web message: “RCQ000 Subsystem Identification Switch error(Unit-xx)”

The change of contents for Version 065B/M & 165B/M

1) SATA HDD block

Item Description
Contents SATA HDD blocked by conflict between online verifies and host I/O. When the online verify
and host I/O access the same area, the microcode executes the online verify process by priority.
In this case, drive access for host I/O may result in timeout error and SATA HDD may block.

2) Subsystem down by SES HDD failure

Item Description
Contents ENC was blocked due to SES obstacle though the obstacle HDD was able to be specified. The
HDD was not able to be separated by the automatic backend diagnosis. Problem may occur
when all the following conditions are met.
A) Dual controller configuration
B) SES communication failure occurs and ENC fails
C) HDD has permanent obstacle with an abnormal SES function occurs.
OR
A) Dual controller configuration
B) ENC obstacle with an abnormal SES function occurs.
C) In case of obstacle ENC#0, the even HDD has permanent obstacle in both loops or in case of
obstacle ENC#1, the odd HDD has permanent obstacle in both loops.

3) Controller fails with Watchdog timeout after True Copy PSUE error.
Item Description
Contents Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met:
A) PAIR or COPY status True Copy Basic (sync)
B) Fence level is “Data”
C) Receiving data share write to the P-VOL
D) PSUE occurs during data transfer

4) Improper clear of LU map by deleting Host Groups configured on the other blocked controller .
Item Description
Contents This occurs due to a microcode bug in the sequence of clearing the host group’s configuration
between controllers. Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met:
A) Controller is blocked
B) Deleting of host groups on the blocked controller
5) LU Hang-up
Item Description
Contents LU may hang-up because the controller fails to blockade when the LU obstacle occurs on the
controller. Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met:
A) The specific obstacle occurs in the controller
B) Frequent LAN access
6) Controller /ENC recovery failure
Item Description
Contents Due to a bug in the sequence of hardware error during Controller or ENC recovery. Problem
may occur when either of the following conditions are met:
A) Detection of removal and insertion, during Controller or ENC recovery
B) SENC – Occurs during hardware error during SENC recovery
7) Improper ENC failure and improper Unit # on the failure message after HDU replacement
Item Description
Contents Improper ENC failure and improper Unit # on failure message occurred after HDU replacement
which had a fibre channel port failure. Due to microcode bug on the sequence of HDU recovery,
microcode found the backend fibre channel failure improperly after HDU replacement.
Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met:
A) FC HDD
B) HDU was replaced which has a fibre channel failure on the port
8) DAMP connection failure by LAN failure
Item Description
Contents DAMP connection failure may occur by LAN failure. Web connection and host I/O are no
problem. Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met:
A) Reference the DF600 information from DAMP
B) Reference data: Information message, performance and statistical information.
C) LAN failure while the subsystem is receiving the frame
D) Response error from DAMP
9) Sequential Read performance may deteriorate
Item Description
Contents Due to a microcode bug in interruption sequence of pre-fetch, the pre-fetch may hang-up and
sequential read performance may deteriorate.
Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met.
A) During sequential read
B) DAMP setting, or pair setting from CCI/Raid Manager, or LU ownership change by host I/O
10) “Processing unit size” step for drive rebuild is skipped improperly after PS/OFF-ON
Item Description
Contents Problem may occur when all the following conditions are met.
A) Drive rebuild amount is set incorrectly
B) After PS OFF /ON of the subsystem, or after reboot for microcode update
11) ICMP Connection Reset Vulnerability
Item Description
Contents Multiple TCP/IP and ICMP implementations allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service
(reset TCP connections) via spoofed ICMP error messages, e.g. the “blind connection-reset
attack”. TCP connection is reset during the session connected.
