Abstract

Thin films of double layer of ZnO/Al has succeeded in deposition on a glass substrate using sol-
gel method and spray coating techniques. Variations doping Al as much as 2%, 4%, 6% and 8%.
ZnO precursor synthesized using zinc acetate dehydrate, isopropanol and monoethanolamine were
stirred using a magnetic stirrer for 45 minutes. If the solution of the homogeneous ZnO has further
added to the percentage of aluminum nitrate nonahydrate predetermined doping concentration.
Deposition solution is done by the spray on a glass substrate is heated at a temperature of 450 oC.
A layer of ZnO/Al deposited over the ZnO to produce a thin layer of a double layer. Layer optical
properties of ZnO/Al characterized using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Based on data from UV-Vis
absorbance can be used to determine the value of the energy band gap. Pure thin layer with a layer
that has been in doping have values different energy band gap due to the influence of the addition
of Al doping. The value of the energy band gap of 3.37 eV worth ZnO layer, and then decreased
to 3.10 eV after doping 8% Al.
